Isn't it strange how the amount caught on each server is roughly the same?

Anyway, any botter booted is great. :)

The list is pathetic. Not because the names of the people that got banned but because of the numbers.

Previous bot ban list use to average about 15 botters a week. Now, its been 2 or 3 weeks without a bot ban list and this is all they have to show for it.

Been more like 4 weeks :(

List is pretty short, should have much more for 4 weeks of work. Hell one botter a day on each server even would be bigger.

On Troy, WO_WOW got owned so did Fire_star

hihihi123 got owned when my union made him red and he dropped like 3 sos items. Good thing we got him before he got banned.

list is pretty sad though. Me and a friend got 6+ botters red in just 90 minutes of cruising around the cave.

Hum, no. A lot of them were not gold farmers. UFO1 and intceleron botted for lvl and were both 60+ alredy. I reported both :D

But its not enought names for a list that took so long to come out... :(

Yea, it is pretty sad. These poor bot ban list seem to be encouraging more people to bot than stop botting. In the last 2 or 3 months the number of botters seemed to have dramatically increased. I know people who were legit and against botters who are now botting to keep up. Too bad it has gotten to that.

On the other hand, theoretically, they should have an easy time finding and banning bots.

4 or 5 botting at ongs.

10+ botting at shades.

6 or 7 botting at penons.

4 or 5 botting at mujs.

8 or 9 botting in caves.

4 or 5 botting at flowers.

2 or 3 botting at blood death flowers.

4 or 5 botting at bunwangs.

3 or 4 botting at hyencheons.

3 or 4 botting at maongs.

2 or 3 botting at hygungo ghost.

1 or 2 botting at bandit den.

Of course all of these numbers could be a overestimate but are most likely a underestimate in some areas. This just what I have encountered and heard. I also pretty sure that 7/10 of them are botting afk. Although there are only 3 GM's, there is no execuse why atleast 4 or 5 servers can have about 40+ botters banned in just one week after about a hour or so of bot checking.

Its things like this why people come up with conspiracy theories and that JM likes botters.

On a side note, its good that some gold farmers got banned. The effect they have cannot be seen immediately but in the long run you will see how they effect the economy of the game. Although banning about 13 out of 35+ gold farmers is...is...not good enough.

Yea i agree
Botting Does Need to have more Seroius Punishments

On Steam reated games, Battlefield 2 hacking is delt with very harshly
results in a perm ban form u creating an account ever again on that cd key

but on silkroad its a fu cking joke just that account gets blocked if i was leader of the sro devopment team i would perm ban all ips that bot hack or come close to try hacking joymaxs servers

personnly i think account stealing be harshly delt also
i can think of many ways to decect them

lie check all ips that have logged on to that account
ask user what comps he plays sro and tell joymax there ips
then its a simple prossection of elemination
it even says on joymaxs servers that account stealing will be dealt with but im yet to see one person get banned for account stealing

personnly i think there does need to be more gms to be hired
there needs to be more then 3

Well i might as well get into this colour posting shit :D :D

The problem is... wait let me get on my firefighting hat

The problem is that either
a) joymax really doesn't want to ban any botters despite what they say, and only occasionally release a ban list to appease the legit players. Although they're dreaming if they think this list is satisfactory.

b) GM's don't play this game at all. If they played this game, or even asked a player how to detect bots, they'd quickly and easily ban a heck of a lot of them. but they don't ask... they just do things their way... their slow, inefficient, and ineffective way :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

c) joymax is gets some sort of 'protection payment' from the company that owns botters (just a conspiracy theory to spice things up... i don't believe it)

"Isn't it strange how the amount caught on each server is roughly the same?"

because then people from one server would complain complain complain about how their server didn't get as many bot blocks as that other server.

"The list is pathetic. Not because the names of the people that got banned but because of the numbers."

would you rather that they simply ignored the bot problem?

"GM's don't play this game at all. If they played this game, or even asked a player how to detect bots, they'd quickly and easily ban a heck of a lot of them. but they don't ask... they just do things their way... their slow, inefficient, and ineffective way"

there's quite probably a good reason for this, such as people with a grudge against someone could identify a person as a bot even though the accused doesn't bot, they could then get all of their friends / guild / union to report them as a botter too. Little joymax taking every word that the players say as fact clicks the ban button on an innocent user!

Also, yes it does take time to find bots, yes it has been a very long time since the last bot ban list was posted, and yes there are only 3 GMs. You have to keep in mind that the GM's want to be 100% certain that those suspected of botting actually have botted before banning them. The GM's do have lives and more to do in keeping the game running then just finding and banning bots.

The way I see it, these bot ban lists aren't just Joymax's way of clearing out the bot's, they are a way of saying to current botters, and people who are thinking of botting, 'hey, we don't like that activity here, we're going to ban you for doing it".

Lastly, suck it up and quit whining.

I saw the most botters in Oasis server where the black robber follower and the black robber archer were. Elif was one of them there, maybe he was lvl 42. But there are a lot of them still boting.

I'm fairly pleased with the list on Troy, hihihi, and WO_WOW are nice additions to the block list.

They seem to be after the higher levels and gold farmers.

I'd love to see the list of complaints they get and compare it to some of the names we all know and love.

or my favorite bot: mariss ... everytime i go online ill write Hi to her and she always replies me hello .. even if i tell her good bye ^^ she answers hello .. so why didnt block her someone? nah nah

chan_ho_nam is on oasis too and talking a lot of sh*t in GC for example .. im sure hes a botter too on oasis when he was one on Athens ..

sont know where the problem is in nominating more GM for less botter ..

I WOULD DO THIS FOR FREE! BELIEVE ME

I highly doubt joymax is in anyway involved with the bot devs. I know it has been gone over many times so I will leave it at that.

I think the real problem is that they have no major incentive to ban them. The bot is bringing in more people that might otherwise not play because of the tediousness involved in leveling, and these people are buying item mall goods. The GMs also are not allowed to just ban people because they look like they are botting. I'm sure a lot of people baby-sit their bots while they do other things and thus are able to respond to the GM. Just look at potato or whoever it was. The people I think get banned are the ones who bot afk for hours on end and get many reports.

Something is fishy though because I firmly believe that if joymax wanted they could ban all botters. Is the bot running behind a root kit or hiding it's process somehow? Why is game guard even needed for something that could be coded into the game? The sro_client could check for the bot process and log that to the users account. At the end of the month all those accounts would be gone. Maybe it doesn't have to be done this way, but it's just an example of how joymax could easily fix something and choose not to. Sure the bot company would come back with a fix, but look at all the people who would have to start over. I think that would be a major discouragement against botting seeing as how this could happen again.

Anyway, I watched Shu_du, Darkpearl and many others bot in the cave over the last few weeks. Nice to know there will be a little more room now, but not enough :)

Don't just quote a part of my post just to make your point. If you read down farther then you would see that I had more to say on the issue.

"On a side note, its good that some gold farmers got banned. The effect they have cannot be seen immediately but in the long run you will see how they effect the economy of the game. Although banning about 13 out of 35+ gold farmers is...is...not good enough."

As far as I know all they do is whisper the person to see if they answer back. Yea, takes time to confirm they bot eh? EVERYDAY, since I train by ishades and mujs, I make about 8 bots murderer in only 30mins. Not hard at all so don't even come with they have a life excuse. This is there job, to maintain the game.

And nobody is complaining and whining. Everyone knows they could have done better. That is the reason for all the negative comments.

Man, we all know it's BS that they don't catch at least 1 a day. You can spend 10 minutes in caves and come across a botter. if they seriously spent just an hour TOTAL per day across all of the admins, we would have more than twice that many bots caught.

I'm sure every member of this forum can name a couple well-known and unknown botters than aren't on that list.
