As for trying to get more data, this is really the only options that are offered to me at this price range. I didn't know wifi didn't use your data though I'm obviously going towards the HTC but a lot of people in my school uses BBM. Then again, I don't really see how BBM is different than texting. My phone is the Blackberry Curve 8520/8530 though.

Heres a: Pick a phone by your personallity article Code: Android users
Android phones tend to be the most advanced technically, but often the most raw. Most applications are free, but privacy and security aren’t really Google’s thing, since the phones are partially funded by an advertising model. Android phone users are likely the closest to technology geeks; the phones are best used by guys who like to tinker with things and folks who like a bargain. Android users want the most choice in carriers and phone designs, and don’t mind a little aggravation in exchange for having something that is different. Their personal motto is likely “viva la difference.”
BlackBerry users
The BlackBerry is arguably the best phone (for those who forgot what a phone is supposed to do, it is supposed to easily take and make phone calls) in its class. It does a few things really well, like PDA features, but lacks much depth in applications and is most often purchased by companies. BlackBerry users are buttoned down and work focused. They like feeling secure, and believe that everything has a place, and that it should be in that place. Life isn’t about play, it is about making money, and they’d likely prefer wearing a suit to any other form of dress. It doesn’t mean they don’t have a wild side though, and these folks are most likely to have a second personal phone that isn’t a BlackBerry for nonprofessional use. Their professional motto is likely “time is money.”

both seem to be able to use wifi calling, but android has google voice app to make wifi messaging as well...
so you can get unlimited minutes/text/data using wifi when you are at home/work/school if there are wifi. Some places may have wifi at fast food places/diners/malls
but you are in canada? thinking about buying blackberry since it's made there?

plus setting up you email on a blackberry is incredibly complicated... its so retarded Okay... why so? And woudn't Android be for people that are into all that tech stuff that care about specs and precise performance? If anything, BB is for "normal teenagers" aswell now considering the social features it has. (At least where I live)

(At least where I live) Android simply offers more possibilities for both social features and games etc. The only thing that's actually better on blackberry is it's security, which pretty much makes it suited for business (even though i personally simply have both my private and my work mail account set up on my HTC). To be honest i've got no clue how blackberry gained so much popularity with teenagers. When my sister got hers the salesman even told her that he found it funny how much of a 'switch' blackberry made in it's target group. One year every teen found them ridiculous phones for business folks only, the other year all the teens want one. It's just good marketing by blackberry i guess, they made 'pinging' cool among teenagers.

I don't really believe this... 1 picture can easily be 1 MB. That's 1 picture. Loading text-based websites, we're talking KB, yeah, but this will accumulate as well. I wouldn't personally recommend this. I'm not a heavy user at all, in fact I have a limitless plan but I barely use the damn thing since the network sucks (t-mobile 3G on the edge of holland/germany) but I used to advise people about this exact thing for a year and a half. It will slowly accumulate. If you watch 1 YT video you're pushing a 10th of your monthly limit.

Had an HTC with Tmobile and the the limited data plan never lasted more than a week for me. Edit- yea youtube uses up a lot of bandwidth.

If you want to use your phone online a lot you should connect it to wifi.
I've gone over my 500mb limit once, but i do download a fair amount of apps.

I would say get HTC, BlackBerry are old fashioned for me, but hats just me :O

Is it true that the Facebook app takes less data than loading the actual Facebook page?

I'd say go for HTC.
Offtopic: Are those unlimited things really unlimited? Because they always talk about unlimited texts and data, and there's a little note in the bottom with the tiniest possible font says "fair usage policy applies" and unlimited turns out to be nor really unlimited.

Nah it's really unlimited. It's a common thing here now.

ExSoldier wrote: Would 100mb be enough if I Facebook and browse 4-5 forums everyday? I know quite some people have already answered this, but I just wanted to pop in, as I don't really agree. If you get the HTC, which I would recommend, you ARE going to download applications. If you want it or not. Trust me, you can really get caught in that shiii. So many nice applications and small games Anyway, I normally don't only download those applications when I'm at home. So yeah, if the application is 5mb, I'll use 5mb of my 3G internet just downloading that application. Now, you may say: Hey, I'll simply only download applications when I'm on wifi then. And sure, that may work. I thought the same thing to myself when I started out. I soon found out that I sometimes wanted to update an application or get a new one, while there were no wifi options! Of course browsing facebook and a couple of forums doesn't take that much internet. However, receiving e-mails can easily crank everything up. So far this month my e-mail application have used 14.3mb of data. On a normal month I use close to 500mb of data on my HTC Desire. That is more than some people, but still, I can't see how I should use less without it being annoying.

100 simply ain't gonna cut it. trust me bredda!
And yea, limitless = limitless. Here in Holland limits dont exist anymore, and haven't for quite a while now. Im talking at least 5 years.
Mobile networking is pretty much limitless now as well, maybe there are still a small handful of (small) carriers that offer plans iwth limits, but the bigger players dont have them anymore.

Europe have awesome cellphone plans though. I've seen my uncles plan (they live in Holland too), freaking outrageous deals you guys have. I'm pretty much set on getting the HTC, but I'm also considering just getting a slide-keyboard cellphone. Considering I'm only working this summer till October, do I really need such a nice phone?

Actually more and more limits are being put on contracts again in the Netherlands, limitless isn't easy to get anymore. Limitless usually comes with 1 mbit/s net though, whith my 1 gb limit i've got 7,2 mbit/s atm. Also, 'Limitless' internet isn't actually limitless. If you use to much data, the provider will call you and tell you to ease down or they'll charge you for it. You've signed for that in the general conditions that come with the contract. I've got an HTC Desire Z myself, great phone, with a qwerty keyboard.

As for that argument on the limits, yes it's limited technically, that's true, if you're going to download a Farking petabyte. Every provider has this in their ToS/contract, every single one of them. You won't hit it with regular usage, and you can be quite the insane downloader before you get throttled for a while or even blocked due to heavy usage. nothing to worry about on this, but yeah I know it's there.

For example, i used to have Hi online 20- which was unlimited. Now, the same contract : http://shop.www.hi.nl/hi/RAPRD/HTC-Desi ... B2,DEHN2D1 (click the blue 'i' for info on the internetspeed/limit) Can pick internet start for 200mb, giving you 1 mbit/s; internet extra for 1 GB, giving you 3,6 mbit/s or internet extreme for 2 GB, giving you 7,2mbit/s. My old contract was the 2009 version of that, being unlimited.
