It's kinda interesting how the mind can be made to rationalize anything and make it OK or make it not OK while being hypocritical in the process. Yet we have the ability to identify this shortcoming and disregard it in most cases.. Seems we are just naturally complex.
it's not always so complex though. you can reason why cats and dogs are more significant to a bugs. we see that dogs and cat can suffer more pain, we can reason that they have a more complex sensory system. as for slaughtering cows vs dolphins(or any other animal) its just happens we found cows to be a more efficient animal to harvest.
