I wonder if even half the people on these forums ever hear of constructive criticism. Anyways, Silk Road is better in terms of graphics but depending on your graphics card and server lag, I don't know if you'll play decently.

Both fail in the graphics department. They both are old games, and outdated.

Both fail in the gameplay department. SRO is nothing more then a translation of a poorly created korean mmo. With that, you get no story line, no quests, no cutscenes, nothing: it's just a grind fest. Runescape has poor to mediocre quests, however they're mostly only accessible to members. And, you would have to pay me to play the game, not the other way around.

And most importantly, the community sucks for both games. On runescape you find the 10 year olds that cannot afford to play another game, and the quite old that play at work, or at home on bad PCs. Because of that, there's no dynamic community: just a bunch of children that talk too much, and older players that don't say a word. In SRO, there's also barely a community. Chances are, if you meet a player he's AFK botting. If he's not AFK botting then he doesn't speak english. If he speaks english and isn't botting, then he's most likely a member of SRF. The membership of 1 sole forum isn't enough to make up the userbase of a game.

For the sounds and controls, horrible: i'll leave it at that.

I hated runescape. Pretty gay rules, like if you die, you lose EVERYTHING! :banghead: Except for 3 items which sux balls.**** runescape its a pretty gay game. All the sound suck for runescape, too many little kids, etc. RUNESCAPE SUCKS PERIOD.

Having played both runescape and SRO for fair amount of time, I can voice my unbiased opinion.

RuneScape has absolutely horrid graphics. I've seen better animation on my screensaver and mines just does the window's logo. Zombie-like walking and stick-up-the-butt walking mechanics are pretty bad. (Although the "smart" walking grants this game some kudos) But we must remember, its a browser-based game.

Graphics aside, runescape does have numerous things to do besides grinding like cooking, fishing, woodchopping and their specialty, rune crafting. These things are great "side quests" so to speak and makes your experience easier. BUT, these things are boring to level up and takes forever, almost just like the grinding in SRO.

Another Pro RS has is that you may jump servers whenever you may like. But that don't affect people much because there are no traffic.

On to SRO

SRO has fantastic graphics for a f2p and it does get better. With the euro update, I have heard that there will be update graphics. (So I've heard).

SRO is lacking in variety. Besides grinding, you get to do the jobs...Big deal. Its either being a boring trader where the end results don't make you much money, or you are a hunter or thief. Although it can be exciting, once either side injects the "Sun's influence" its game-over and the fun dies (along with ur thieving or hunting buddies). Other than that, you can choose to do alchemy. Sounds good to pimp out your gear and all, but the unfair success- rate blows and its just more money for JM for their leechin a**es.

My conclusion?
RuneScape=SRO
Why? Because both game require you to do the same thing over and over and over. Be it grinding earth ghost or generals in SRO or Hacking away at poor cows and chickents in RS, the end-game is pretty much the same...boring.

But I picked SRO over runescape for graphics and the chinese theme ^^

PS: For all you runescapians, try Last Chaos. For some reason, it reminds me of Runescape, but in 3D but with a mix of classbased characters.

PPS: Hope it wasn't biased ^^

PPPS: Longest Post by me ever. RAWR

Its hard to pick

Silkroad lags

Runescape no lag
------------

Silkroad Servers full

Runescape Server not full
-------------

Silkroad has Good Quality Graphics

Runescape has Low Quality Graphics
---------------

Silkroad has background music

Runescape has list of background music
--------------

Runescape has Pk, Pvp, Castle war

Silkroad has Pvp, Guild war
-------------

Runescape has fishing, mining, farming, hunting, crafting, etc

Silkroad has Upgrading Weapons, Riding horses, Has pets
---------------

Silkroad is Free2play with Cash shop

Runescape is Free2play with Premieum service
----------------

Well its pretty hard to decide, but Silkroad is better.

Bad about RS:
bad graphics, stupid controlls, your char has to walk around EVERYTHING!
it has no sky, bad zooming, the only pet is a cat, every piece of armour and every weapon in that level has the smae color, all weapons and armour of all weapons have the smae shapes and stuff, the quests are so easy you can be in the champions guild and start Dragon Slayer at level 10 or somethin(at least I did), small inventory.

good about RS:
good game to play, cool having all kinda races, the world is very big, it has got all kinds of different other wearing stuff but armour, there are lotta skills, lotta quests, lotta things to do, you name it.

so I say: SRO..
(I don't wanna type goods and bads about sro.. don't play it long enough yet)

Its written in java....how the hell are you guys comparing it graphics wise...graphics doesnt mean that much. Take it from being a browser game to a game like SR adn it would come out on top. From what i can tell most of you havnt played it enough to know thats its like. Its not pixelated neither...where did you get that. lol and to the person who was talking about you have to walk around everything...you walk through things in SR? Atleast no invisible walls lol. anyway that ends my rant

lol I would rate runescapes customer service a 0/10. Wanna know why? cuz everytime i message them about something they reply: Sorry, but due to the big number or messages we get daily, we cannot give you a personal reply at the moment. If you were a member we would give a dam about what you say. I became member for 1 month..... they still gave me the same dam reply. Oh yea I once got EMAIL from " jagex", asking me to be a mod. Which I knew immediatly was a jagex impersonator, cuz I have 9.7/ out of 10 blackmarks. There is no way they would choose me to be a mod. I also knew it was fake cuz they say they never send out emails. So I sent them a message letting them know about this fraud website, and they gave me the same dam reply again. Do they not give a shit if there is another website trying to impersonate them, and steal thousands of players accounts?! :banghead:

Lmao @ 2nd post.

If theres anything i would want to do on the internet, it would be sent a big mother****ing virus to all runescape players, then erase their accounts, or something like...a complete wipe

my personal opinion is silkroad.

but, in reality runescape>silkroad.

-runescape is ENTIRELY browser based, no client download.
-they have updates every couple weeks
-the game has millions of active players (literally)
-f2p is still good, paying members things are just slightly easier
-the gfx may be poor, but its web based......
-jagex have good customer support
-there are thousands of ingame mods
-there are 30+ super (j) mods who are always online
-runescape have over 1million subscribers paying $5 a month

also @vibrator, 14 is only high for f2p members, when i used to play rs (almost 2 years ago), rune sucked, there was much better, and hitting 500 is nothing

You may have a point, but the game itself is crap, so they cancel eachother out :)

I find both annoyings in ways.

Now I admit I have played Runescape more than Silkroad [For time being]

But heres the ups and downs of SR and RS

Runescape in ways better than SR:
Runescape in so much better is alot easier to log into, get into the game whenever you wish NO SPENDING 2 HOURS OR MORE. Wanting to get into the game, lately. But of course since Jagex is a broswer based game of course it is easy to get in. Also like people said before Runescape isn't just about killing everything in your path. [Which I have no problem of.] They have skills that you can master, master everyone one easily and not as frustrating. And all the added perks of high skils like fletching and all that crap. It makes the game very fun, untill the end when you know that you've mastered mostly everything and know all the stops. So in with which the goal from lvl 3 is now desolate being bragained by little noobs. If hackers don't have you before youreach to a real high lvl, thats why I wore poor looking stuff like a Zamorak Robe, I deattracted atteion and I kept that way. Never was hacked. ALSO the customer service is alot better. I mean RS customer service can be very annoying due to the rules they smack on your forehead everythime youeven think of one of they, but still they are honest and are secure, no hackings in the game and all that. Also you can customize your apperance in hair top bottom all that crap with none of the mastery skills to hold you back. [Except for like the quest cloths, equipment, weapon.]

Also it's a game for those of not the best computers for graphics like the good Silkroad ones. So yes, perfect starter for kids?

So all in all it is a good game to start learning l33t and gaming expirence with. Just watch out for the people who call you noob evey 5 seconds. The one running around annoying the other calling them a noob, or if you the one that says noob as a response to where every stranger asks you a question. Then you are definitly the "noob"

Ways SR is better than RS:
Now yes of course, SILKROAD HAS BETTER GRAPHICS. Whooptido yay! Better graphics! Also the game play is more stratigic, you know the masterys of the weapon and the elements. All that good stuff. Yes theres ups and downs to that but favoring knowing you know some sort of mastery yes? Also what attracted me and I bet most of people, is the unque gameplay of Triangular Conflicts. I've seen alot of Triangular modes, like Runescapes in PKing, Mage beats Warrior, Warrior beats Ranger, and Ranger beats Mage. Down to the most commonly of Rock Paper Scissors. We all know that I hope, but this one in unique because they add history into the trade routes in Asia wherever, whenever there is the rich trader, there is the evil thief, there is the do gooder hunter. Personally Thievies pwn Traders and Hunters forever, but I found this gameplay of the three very fun, espicially when my first thievieing run was a succesful 5 star trade round up. [I was so lucky, and proud.]

Now as for the downers, THE SERVER OCCUPATION! [ :banghead: That is me banging my head aganist the login server 63,456 times until they finally let me in!] We all expirenced the hardships of logging in. And I find it most annoying and it gets me mad. Knowing that theres some person with a bot on the server, lazily enjoying him/herself to some ice cream. While there 1 or 2 charcters are being surpervised and trained without even moving there muscle. Also when some of those botters are premium and log in when they wish. It just makes it so frustrating, I sure it makes people take a break from SR for a week like I did. But in the end, all it took for me to get re addicted is anthor succesful Thievieing run and a look at the good graphics and your back in. Nextly the hacking prevention sucks ok. Sorry to say but it does, big time. If I was ever a hacker or anything near that I know for a fact that people have spent hours of there lives on the game developing there charcter they way they wish. The least I do is just take what I wanted and give them back the charcter. Not steal it. But thats just me and Im not a hacker and never will be. It just feels terrible no?

Anyways I know I left out alot of stuff but thats basiclly it. Alright I'll shut up now.

P.S. Definition of noob and newb. From what I know

Noob-Someone low lvled or high lvled running around annoying someone constantly, like begging, or insulting over and over. Or being just a plain pain in the arse.

Newb-Someone who is new to a game, or ill intellected about the game.

It's eternity since I even played Rune but the bad taste still stays in my mouth so I vote for SRO for the High Hopes

Runescape has plenty of bots to. my friend was showming me all the ones on runescape!

RS [exp]:I was full Zamarok at Runescape. Addamant miner. Wasgoal to get to Rune. All skils was 60+ except prayer and all member skils was 1lvl :). Did all quests.
