I find the only good thing about mac's, is the fact theres practically no viruses for them... if any.
depends entirely on what your gonna use it for though.
only office work - laptop 1
everything else - laptop 2
imo

I would recommend the MacBook, I just got a MacBook Pro for college.
I have been very satisfied with it so far, my experience has been 100 times better than Vista. I am still getting adjusted to the interface though. At least there is no ridiculous boot time...
The only two reasons I can think of getting the Vista would be if you wanted to game on it or just for the tablet function. As for me, I simply plan to game on my 360 (although I do believe you can run WoW on the Mac). I've also used the tablet PC before, and I think it's overrated as far as writing goes. It may seem cool at first, but typing is simply faster as apposed to writing.

I type faster than I write. But, the tablet PCs are the only ones that come that small, that's why I picked it =\

The tablet PC also wins in hardware. However, I've always wanted a mac.

I'll say #2 based solely on the fact that I don't know much about OSX. I can use it, I know how to operate it, I just don't know anything about how reliable it is. I'd stick to Windows, it's familiar and likely runs on better hardware.

the mac is good for everything except video games.
#2 is a crap version of what you should be getting if you wouuld get windows, that swivel monitor thing is cool for 5 minutes then it annoys the **** out of you.

From the stats, the windows outstrips the mac in every category except artistic functions, well except capacity to store media, so unless you're planning to use the computer primarily for art, I would go with #2.

If it's 15.4" or 17" the macbook. The tinyer ones aren't worth the money.
And that rotating screen? not so good, my uncle wrecked it 2 times now.

I will NOT be using the laptop like that. I will be using it as a standard laptop, and none of the electronic retailers here carry normal laptops at 13 inches or under, except for the tablets.

My father has those two, lol. One is from his work and the macbook is his own. I think he uses the macbook more often, he uses laptop only for video watching and office stuff.
My preference would be #2 though for compatibility issues, you WILL run in to a program that you want to use, but can't because of mac, it will suck.

Strange that I happened to look at this thread.
I got a new laptop recently from Circuit City, because they were having a Back-to-School sale. I was planning on getting the 2nd laptop, but after I got there and saw it, I immediately said no, even though I had been dreaming about it for a week or something, lol.
The screen is HORRIBLE. There's some little farked-up brightness issue with the screen, so much that it's about 2x as dim as regular screens. Meaning, compared to the laptops displayed next to it, it was only about half as bright. I think they got some really thick plastic screen or something on top of the regular screen. Regardless, the screen was horrible.
Watching movies, playing games, which are the only PROS of getting the 2nd option instead of the first, is ruled out completely due to the lack of light from the screen. Forget doing both. I would suggest getting a Windows computer, but not that one.
I'll have to throw in that before you buy any computer, I really suggest you take a look at it at some kind of store before buying it. The pictures on the Internet are extremely misleading, as I found out.
I ended up getting a Toshiba. A little more expensive, and it's a 13.1 inch, but it's screen is great.

Ok. I just got laptop 2....I got a printer/scanner deal for 20$ more, and a 110$ backpack/carry case. All together it came up to just over 1500$.
The laptop is NOT a touch screen. The luminosity problems are non existant because of that, the picture is actually amazing and doesn't have the problems fena spoke of. However, I can still tilt the monitor and set it flat, then use the voice recognition software to dictate instead of typing...which works really well. 2 microphones and a webcam are built into the top part of the monitor, it's 3 little holes. They're also very nice.
Also, the thumb print reader is win, it's amazing.
