The earth's been hit with a lot of those, and we get hit often; if they could destroy all life on earth, it would've happened ages ago.

"Coronal mass ejections are often associated with solar flares and prominence eruptions but they can also occur in the absence of either of these processes. The frequency of CMEs varies with the sunspot cycle. At solar minimum we observe about one CME a week. Near solar maximum we observe an average of 2 to 3 CMEs per day."

its true that we have been hit by many of them. but the stuff that protects us from them is weakening. it isnt unlikely that a really strong mass ejection will hit earth in the not to distant future and scortch a large plot of land.

technically it is weakening.
but im not talking about it being affecting by general wear and tear. the confirmed brown dwarf moving into our solar system is working with our sun to cause a degaussing affect.
