What do you do when, your going well over the speed limit, and see a police officer parked on the side of the road or heading towards you from the opposite lane? Do you quickly slam on your brakes, take your foot off the gas petal and slowly reduce your speed, without being to conspicuous, or what?
Which method, in your experience, is the most effective to prevent you from being ticketed?
Depends on the speed limit and how fast I am going. If I'm driving 85-90km/h in a 60 zone then I pump the brake once to get below 80. If I'm driving 120km/h on the highway (100 zone) then I just take my foot off of the gas.

Usually I'll just gradually let the car slow down. Maybe pump the brakes once or twice.
I've been pulled over twice, but got off both times. Once going 25 over, the other time going 11 over.
I realized it's all pretty much about how you act and respond to the cop. If you keep your cool, are mellow with them, and comply with what they ask, usually they're more lenient.

I start tossing the bottle out the passenger side window and stash the drugs under the dashboard at the same time I'm smashing the brakes in my 82 buick lesabre. *starts to pray they don't ask me to open the trunk to see the meth lab*

if i am behind him and see the cop i slam on my brakes as soon as possible. if i past him i would slow down slowly and then turn into the next house i see and act like its mine lol

This is very true.
Also, if/when you do get a ticket and go to court. Plead guilty. Whenever anyone pleads "Not guilty" they always end up screwing themselves over. Just don't.

the "unwritten" rule is you can go 5-10 over without getting pulled over.
This is generally what I do. 5 miles faster on the highways and city streets. Up to 10 miles faster on the interstate.

Nice! Although what happens if you pull into a house right next to him and he comes over there and gives you the ticket anyways?
I've decided that, if at all possible, when I see blue lights, I'm just going to turn down some random side street, take a couple quick turns, and act like I didn't see him/her. Doubt it'll work, but I figure it's worth a shot.
The key to speeding is knowing exactly how much you can speed, on what roads you can speed on an what parts of the road to speed on.
I very rarely drive the speed limit, unless I'm in a highly-congested area or a town I'm not familiar with. I usually go anywhere between 10-40km's above the speed limit, depending on the road and conditions. In 4 odd years of driving I've never been caught once.
I find the key is knowing what parts of the roads cops like to target. On my usual route to work, there's 2 main cop zones. One is targeted rarely on a thursday/friday afternoon, the other is quite early in the morning. When I go through these 2 zones, I'm on the lookout. If it's all clear, I get back to my usual 20km's above (120 in the 100 zones, 100 in the 80 zone).
If you see a camera ahead of you and you know there's no one behind you, pump the breaks. If you manage to get to the speed limit when the camera catches you and a police officer pulls you over for your breaking, you can claim you just saw a cat run out in front of you and you braked accordingly. Don't be a dick about it, but it's not hard to get around it.
When you have a cop car driving behind you, watch the way they drive. Do they seem like they are in a bit of a rush? Are they taking corner at high speed? Chances are you can go 10 above and they won't care. But if they are sitting back more patiently, it can be a bit of a risk.
Just a bit of a tip though: don't do anything stupid on unfamiliar roads. I speed a lot, yes, but mainly on roads that I've been driving for years. One of the stupidest things you can do is to go 20+ over the limit on a road you don't know, before you know it you'll be taking a sharp corner much faster than you'd want.
Of course, all of this is based upon my personal experience and it's not a guarenteed way to not get caught.
Usually I just slow down by letting go of the gas pedal but police cars rarely have the camera on around here. The real "problem" in Finland is that police leaves these vans with cameras by side of the roads in the night time. One of those cought me once. However now I know most of the usual spots for the van so I know when to slow down before it's too late.

You might be lucky this time... But why take this risk?
If you're only slightly over the limit you might get ticket. Well, If you are caught speeding, much over the limit. you will lose your driver's licence on the spot. Simple.. You farked it up! lulz

I never speed, or if I do it won't be for long and when I notice it I just take my foot of the throttle to get it back to the limit.
If a cops on the other side of the road.. who cares.. he cant do anything.
If a cops behind you.. only brake if your at a good place to (ie a turn).. dont brake on a straight or it looks suspicious.
And the guy who said to put it into neutral. Wtf? Dont ever put your car into neutral unless your a fcking retard who wants to die.
Been stopped once but only doing around 15 over the limit. He just shouted at me a bit, but didnt get charged. Once you get stopped.. its all about whether the cop is an ass or not.
They (police) are more assholeish (yes i know its not a word ¬_¬) over here (UK). Even 2 over and they pull you over, i just left my foot off the gas and let my car slow down a bit before i carry on ;p

So wait, why do you go the speed limit then?
Because they made the limit for a reason? You'll never see me speed on purpose.
If you're not a white guy and you're driving somewhere in the South, especially fucking Texas, don't push your luck. They will try to get you for anything.

I've driven 185kmph sadly... i regret it I was REALLY stupid, I never got caught, and now well price of gas is holding me back, and well maturity too, I had to get some testosterone out anyways I never EVER speed anymore, if I do I go about.. 130kmph?
Worst experience : Speed by an undercover cop at 1am going at 160kmph, didnt get pulled over because the cop was texting? or well doing something with her cell phone, idk why, but lemme tell you it was the scariest thing ever....
Also not doing my stop (i was going 35kmph) but it was raining REALLY hard and I was turning, cop passed me without noticing, I got really lucky...
Anyways I feel im lucky I did get a warning once by a cop I ''turned'' too fast into an alley way...
Sometimes I go out to drive, and ill tell myself bleh no point in trying to hurry today, take it easy, and those are the days where I see 5 cops parked where I would usually do infractions...
I did get more sensible and told myself driving isnt like a video game, im much safer now
