From what I've seen of Vista in action, I'm not impressed.
I's like you said:

I've been running XP on my computer for nearly 4 years now, and I haven't had any major problems.

Sure WinXP has problems. But those problems aren't bad enough to move on to a whole new set of them. If your PC is crashing that much Xem, it probably isn't Windows lol.

I have two laptops and two desktops, each running XP and Vista. Vista works fine if your computer meets the minimum requirements.
People don't realize, but the arguments they're using against Vista are the same ones people used for XP, Me, 2000, 98, and even 95. I remember when people laughed at me for using XP, but it's fine now right? That's because of two reasons: 1) Patches: Microsoft comes out with patches to fix the problems they had a launch. If you tried Vista (tried doesn't mean heard from a friend, or had it for only a couple days) near the start of the release, there's been patches since then. 2) System specs. It's natural that as time goes on, our PCs perform better. If you're upgrading your desktop, chances are it doesn't meet the minimum requirement. According to my ram gadget, I idle using just under 1gb of ram. If you have only 1gb or less, and are playing games like WoW, CS : S, BF2, etc. it's normal that your suffer performance problems.
The problem is that 9/10 people complaining about Vista know nothing about computers, they're unable to explain the problem correctly or fix it. Most of the time, it's their fault that vista isn't working.

Yes but vista will also ask you 2 times before you do anything if you're sure that you want to perform an action.
I have Vista on laptop for college and XP on my leisure comp, as much as I like vista's style .. I rather have XP any day.

I agree that 9/10 ppl who complain know nothing about computers....but thats why they complaining in the first place, if they had computer knowledge then they'd just fix the problems themselves but most of us just use computers we don't try to understand how they work. So imo thats why XP fails random crashes and blue screens windows sending me an update every 3 seconds, its enough to make you @_@

Noooo, i didnt think you would fall under the category of people who dont know how to use computers . You can turn the thing that asks for confirmation on everything off.

+1. But if you don't know how to do that, then you shouldn't be doing it. It's there to protect people from Farking up their computers.
1) Go to control panel
2) Make sure it's on "control panel home" view
3) Search UAC in the top right
4) Click on "Turn user account control (UAC) On or Off"
5) Uncheck the box, click ok.

It causes people to fark up their keyboards and monitors instead when they shove their faces through them. They are incredibly annoying. I didnt turn it off on mine until a few hours after i installed, i was busy going through almost every setting available to see what i could change i felt like headbutting the keyboard.

I've seen several modern (e.g., core 2 duo / 2 GB RAM) desktops and laptops that have had issues with Vista. There are two brand new laptops here at my office that have core 2 duo with 2 GB and they have problems with Vista crashing too often. They also have issues (known issue to Microsoft - requires registry hack) with saving files to a network share, claiming the parent folder doesn't exist when it in fact does.
It's just insane to me that an OS boots up to the desktop and idles at just under 1 GB of ram used. Vista loads SO much unnecessary stuff and seems to do a LOT of caching unnecessarily. It's no wonder it uses so much memory.
Besides, Several PC makers are offering options to "downgrade" (I say upgrade) from Vista to XP.
XP took what, 6 or 7 years to get to where it is today? Vista was (supposed to be) a complete rewrite, and Microsoft quickly pulled out a TON of big features from the OS before releasing it. There's bound to be a lot of problems.
