it's not about how many soccer fans you have, it's about the feelin you get from it. When the Netherlands qualified for the finals, the whole country was in chaos. The whole country was thinking about the finals. It's something most Dutch people live for. Like how most Americans love/live for American football or baseball.

It is known that the majority of Americans isn't too fond of football and that's oke. But I don't think you deserve to organize the World Cup, which is like the crown jewel of football, if your country isn't footballcrazy.

Oh yes cause of the tens of millions of people that watched the world cup didn't feel anything right?

i am sure if we got to the finals a lot more people would have gotten into it, we only got to what the second round and peoples interest skyrocketed. and if you feel the US shouldn't host it you must feel the same about Qatar right? considering they have never even been in a world cup before.

but the Americans don't need the World Cup to get into football. the last World Cup shows that. if the American footballteam keeps doing good work like in the last WC, football will become more popular in the US. Once you've become a footballnation, you'll get the WC.

and about Qatar, organizing the WC doesn't have anything to do with how well a country's national team can play football. If that would be the case, only former World Champions would have the right to organize the WC. like i said before, it's all about how much people in a country love football, and in Qatar people love football like they love their own lifes.

the 1994 world cup that was held in the US had the highest home attendances...
the reason the US might have less soccer fans in percents is because the populations so high and there are so many sports played.

Holland might have 90% of the country watching soccer (most popular sport) but the US probably has like 30% people who really follow Am. football (most popular sport), the only sport (that you say) americans care about.

that probably didn't make much sense...

Should have come to Australia nice temperature plenty of stadiums about 5 stadiums within 1000km being 50,000+ and one being 100,000+ not too mention decent transport and other tourist attractions. But nah fair enough lets go to 50 degree heat and not be able to drink beer in a god damn desert that has 1-2million people, sounds fun. Not too mention the almost certain terrorist threats to come.
