If a cops behind you.. only brake if your at a good place to (ie a turn).. dont brake on a straight or it looks suspicious.

And the guy who said to put it into neutral. Wtf? Dont ever put your car into neutral unless your a fcking retard who wants to die.

Been stopped once but only doing around 15 over the limit. He just shouted at me a bit, but didnt get charged. Once you get stopped.. its all about whether the cop is an ass or not.

Actually putting a vehicle in neutral does help slow down. Which is also why some choose to put their vehicle in neutral while braking when the roads are icy.

also if you have a powerful engine, reduces noise.. we have some strict 'hoon' laws round here.

Wtf. No.

Putting your car into a lower gear helps slow it down.

Putting it into neutral makes it roll.. so you have no control over the speed of your wheels.

Lol, over here (the netherlands / europe) we nearly all drive stick shifts anyhow.
Unclutching/ putting it in neutral wont necceceraly slow the car down at all, shifting back would do better (depending on the speed you're driving at).

Also, i've driven 180-185 once aswell > german roads eh, you'll still get overtaken as if you're standing still by basterds in their expensive cars.

dont lie to the cop. A lot of people say stuff like "wtf I dont know what your talking about I wasn't going over 50" and cops get pissed at that. If you say things like "im sorry I won't do it again" theres a good chance they'll just let you go.

oh and don't say the word "cop" in front of them, that pisses them off too. Call them "officer" and always say things like "yes officer", "no sir", etc etc

Wtf. No.

Putting your car into a lower gear helps slow it down.

Putting it into neutral makes it roll.. so you have no control over the speed of your wheels.

Actually it does help, after taking your foot off the accelerator the engine is still wanting to push the car forward until the engine's RPM is reduced to idle which doesn't really take that long but still. So putting your vehicle in Neutral removes the power from the engine to the drive shaft thus helping with slowing down. EDIT: Along with braking ofc, to clear any misunderstandings.

Well yeah, you can always hit the breaks, lulz.
The point in this thread is slowing down in a less than obious way, though.
Shifting back a gear and letting the clutch come up again = less obious than just hitting the breaks xD

Worse thing to do: neutral on a steep slope (mountanious areas) and break, instead of using the engine to help, brakes heat up too quickly therefore after a short moment, brakes fail and you cannot break anymore...

The very idea of Squirt putting forth any type of effort is laughable.

Thank god.. someone here does actually know how to drive.

I asked my brother to even confirm, he said that shifting down to a lower gear is for manual transmission and that neutral is for automatic, and he's been driving in all conditions for a long ass time delivering parts for a dealership. My dad also confirms what I have said and he's a mechanic and has been for the passed 30 some odd years.

Best solution is to just not speed. Sooner or later you will fuck it up no matter how long you have driven. My mom witnessed an accident last monday, some girl was probably speeding on the highway/freeway (what ever you want to call it) on a lane that was pretty much entirely covered in snow, she lost control and slid (luckily) past my mom into the back tires of a truck's trailer. Damn girl is lucky she hit the back of the tires, if she got in front of them she'd be spilling her guts there.

Damn people who just can't follow the frikkin' rules, they are there for a fucking reason. Ofcourse some common sense has to come into account too, most people on the road seem to lack that too.

I've been talking about manual cars. I know nothing about automatics.. didnt even think about them.. as they dont really exist here, apart for the people who really cant drive (not saying thats the case in america).

Neutral in a manual means taking it out of gear.. aka the engine then does nothing.. so the wheels move freely. As in.. not a clever thing to do.

I wanted a manual car but hey it is already tough getting a used car that you think will last you.

Damn american's and their automatic cars!

I personally think driving an automatic feels quite awkward.
