400k people have a CHL and carry in crowded public places all the time, every day. The only difference is now these people (who legally obtained and carry their weapon) can take them to class same as they do everywhere else they go. Basically, this sums it up for me pretty well. Though I'd like to add in the following quote; 'Just as water runs downhill, the human heart also tends to revert to its basist instincts.'

Oh wait, I forgot we have an .gov site for Oregon laws that explains WE ALREADY HAVE THIS. Quote: Rest assured, no matter what signs are posted in any public school in Oregon, no matter what lies are told to you by bureaucrats gorging themselves at the public trough, if you are a valid CHL holder you are completely within your rights to carry your defensive firearm on the grounds of any Oregon Public School. My brother in-law has his concealed carry and they don't tell you where you can have it, they only tell you where you CAN NOT. Which is ONLY on Federal Ground. School is NOT federal. It is in fact illegal on the schools part to try and tell you that you cannot have your defensive Firearms. In 2005 they tried and failed to take away CHL rights in Oregon. Quote: It is notable that virtually everyone who came to support taking your gun rights away used the tragic murders at Columbine High School as an explanation for why this bill was needed. None would explain what that ridiculous example had to do with taking gun rights away from persons with concealed handgun licenses. Many suggested that armed civilians were not capable or equipped to respond to a school shooting and that job should be left to the highly trained police. None mentioned that the school shooting in Pearl Mississippi was stopped by an armed civilian. None mentioned that at Columbine, the highly trained police stayed outside while children and teachers were gunned down.

Yes, Colorado, Utah and apparently Oregon have already legalized CHL carry on school grounds. cpinney wrote: so many small penises in this thread. That's funny now, but not when you, your family, or your friend is at gun point because you have no way of protecting yourself.

At this point there will be another guy who pulls his gun out of his holster and tells EvGa to put his gun away. Then I'll be there pointing my gun at that guy telling him to drop his gun. Then they'll be a guy with two guns pointing one at me and one at you. Mean while, a cop walks in and point his gun at dual gun guy and says freeze! What do now? Damn Mexican stand offs...

You completely missed the point. I was referring to stopping or deterring the situation before it came to the point of you or someone you love becoming a hostage/being at gun point. Obviously there will be situations where having a weapon on you can not improve the outcome. And my response to you was more of a blanket, referring to concealed carry and guns in the home; since apparently having the means to protect yourself with a weapon = small penis.
I guess you could always throw a game controller at a home intruder, or your cellphone at a school shooter. I just like to have an effective option at my disposal.
I will probably go through life never having to pull my gun from its holster, but having it there in no way effects anyone else and gives me options.

i like how you throw in guns in the home as well, thats nice. Honestly its more of the culture of each state surrounding guns, the general feeling i get from my state is people have them at home, hunt, have target practice in their back yard or go to a gun range, but i have never met anyone or heard of anyone having a concealed gun, not saying obviously there arn't, but it seems very unlikely and something that nobody really feels they need to feel "safe". But like i said its different, homicides with guns in Maine are pretty rare, just homicides in general in Maine are rare while they are more prevalent in say Texas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violen ... s_by_stateSo perhaps it is best to say if i were in your position i would feel the way you do and if you were in my position you would feel the way i would, but who knows.

I threw the 'guns in home' in there because I read into your statement as "if you need a gun to protect yourself (anywhere) you have a small penis." I realize your comment was a joke of sorts, but yeaaaah. You probably don't know of anyone who carries because: 1. Most people don't tell anyone they carry. 2. A small percentage of the population carries. 3. Your circle of friends is mostly college age people who can not legally carry anyway. (assumption) Honestly, I don't walk around scared for my life. I live in a good neighborhood in a good city, I just like to be prepared. And since I handle and own guns it's not too much trouble for me to go through the process of getting a CHL and carrying one of the weapons I already own. I understand this could seem like a great hassle to someone who does not handle firearms regularly and would have to purchase a weapon, train with said weapon, etc for the .01% chance of needing to use it in their lifetime. For me, it's not a big deal. You may be correct about that last part. Cell, I'm all over the ideological spectrum.

i am talking about homicide rate per 100,000 people. I understand obviously that there would be less homicides because there are less people, but if you look at the link i gave you would notice that Maine had the second lowest homicide rate at 1.37 compared to a state like south dakota that has 770k people but a rate of 2.34 which is higher then a state like Minnesota that has over 5 million people.
@EvGa yes the small penis thing was more of a joke, and no i am not talking about anywhere i myself when i get my own place will probably acquire a firearm of some sorts.
And yes i realize the 3 reasons for why i haven't heard of anyone having one and they are probably true, it probably would have been better to say, no one considers or talks about caring a gun on them even the ones i know that are really into them.

I personally only know two people who carry. My grandfather and step dad. My step dad mainly because his work requires him to venture into the ghettos daily.
I keep a youth 20 gauge for protection in my house. Also an AR15 for the zombie apocalypse. All my other weapons are locked away.

Quote: What if somebody flips out and brings a gun to a no-gun zone? seriously, unexpected attack can happen anytime, anywhere! Really, gun control laws have stopped so many other school massacres before. And what if a students and professors accidentally shot a innocent? Well, they are not trained or in any way qualified for that. Isn't that so? Seriously, you go to school to learn, not for target practice. lulz
