DO IT. It's great busting your ass. I'm in trouble right now though.. I ride goofy but do tricks regular. I HAVE to learn how to ride regular and it is so awkward.

Odd I see this cuz I feel like getting back into Skating. I have a Hybrid bastard Board still that cost nearly $200
Zero Deck. Element Wheels/Barrings. Destructo Trucks, Black Magic Tape. and I think even the hardware is something kinda pricing. idk how many times I've had a screw snap and cause some bullshit to go wrong. Skated for like 2 years everyday, then another year casually and then not at all for like 3. It's a great way to have fun/exercise if you get good at it. I honestly started out Young and the easiest way to get the Ollie is to hold onto a rail or something and practice the motions. It makes it much easier cuz it slows the board down and you see what you have to do.

Yeaahh I can somewhat ollie while moving, but one of the skaters says I keep failing at slamming the tail down before I jump so I'mma work on that.

This week I'm going to attempt to go down the speedramp. My friend that started with me tried it and he can already go down, but when I look down it looks scary as Fu**

I've been wanting to pick up on skateboarding my entire life, but I'm very goofy by nature (I loose balance very easily) and I'm also afraid to fall...

So I guess it's not for me. :(

Every week when I'm riding the bus I go by this place with a smooth wooden floor and ramps where there are always some skaters and I wish I could be there doing that.

^I thought the same a month ago. But I got on the skateboard and it is easier than you think.
Its all mental, your chances of getting a serious injury in the beginning is little to none if you do it reasonably and logically. I can go down a small pyramid ramp, I was scared at first but its cake now.
Just try man, its really fun

I just read this entire thread, and one thing that didnt get said is CONFIDENCE. Thats on of the most important things. If you feel confident on your board, then you can do about anything.
Well ofcourse after practicing. I started out the same as you at about 16, I always went to parks etc, and skaters are actually really nice and helpful :D as long as you dont pretend like you can skate XD And i mean, eventually you will really want to try more things and they will work. Many people say start with ollie bla bla, but i couldn't do the ollie and actually my first trick was a pop-shov-it. After, i felt more comfortable and there i did my ollie.
Skating is a way of life :) when i go to town to do shopping or hang out with my friends, i take my board. You can always learn new things on the way or find some sick spot :D
The most fun thing i find doing is the grinds, they are just epic, the noise, feeling ! just great. i never really got into quaterpipes that much because they are boring XD always the up and down etc

Ah and last thing, you have to decide for yourself if you are a parkskater or more and urban skater. Park skater - skating in parks on premade ramps
urban skater - skating outside the parks and making the environment a park for you... Thats what i do :D

Aight hope this helped somehow :D

The trick with an Ollie that most beginners don't learn for awhile, is Pick up your Front foot just as you slam the tail and gently slide it upthe board to get air(some people slam their front foot down too hard to get enough air). A lot of my friends couldn't ollie high enough for anything other than a single kick/ heel flip because they kickflip as they ollie instead of learning to ollie then flip. Ollie->Flip is easy of you wanna do one, but you need some height if you wanna go for a double or even triple. I got the double down pretty effienciently and even double varial flipped a couple times. Still have yet to 360 double flip, Way too easy to loose control on a 360. As good as I was street skating, I could never do vert. It's just so dam hard for me. Ramps + Me = Disaster.

Best Skater Ever.

P-rod is hella good at switch tricks. Nollie to late front kickflip 180 at 0:33. Nollie to late front foot kickflip to nose manny at 1:18. Freaking dope as hell.

This kid too is ridiculously good.
