The books, are so fcking infinitely awesome, I find myself nearly cheering on characters from time to time. Though they killed off most of my favorite characters in the third one.... FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU... and I still have about 25% of it to go...

Q.Q I was warned not to get too attached to a character. Lesson may have been learned.
One more episode.

Are the books really that good? I absolutely love primitively set stories like this. Big passion of mine. Throughout my youth I barely read a book. Then once my sister gave me the first harry potter book and I was blown away how just letters can mean so much. I have always told myself I should read more but I never really did >_> Should I get some of the books? I love the show btw, the intro is just so sick! who agrees?

The ending of 9 made me mad. The Lannisters better pay.
I always watch the opening as well.

Depending how long I have to wait for season two, I might go ahead and start reading the books.

Fair Warning: This post has information about last nights episode. It shouldn't be spoilers for anyone keeping up with the show and is OBV not for those who read the book so i'm not putting tags on it nor any other post i make following an episode.
i downloaded the first 4 books after last nights episode.still debating if i should plow through them all or read them after each season.
I'm not sure what woutr wanted to see. 2000 men being massacred or watching Rob take jamie by surprise thus ruining the surprise of 1) Him coming back alive with 18,000 men vs 30,000 2) Him capturing Jamie.
You just saw a bunch of guys get speared through last episode, and before that you saw more guys get speared through, and before that you saw MORE spears going through more guys and Ned's leg. There's plenty of bloodshed but this isn't an action movie where the climax ALWAYS has to be some epic drawn out fight. There's a lot more story going on and a lot of ground to cover.
i had no love for Ned btw. anyone who is so adamant about being honorable that he would do the things he did is a fool. You can blame most of whats going on now because Ned choose to be honorable and thousands of people will die because of it. It felt good seeing a character like that get his head chopped off cause thats how this shit is supposed work.
Smart people bring guns to a sword fight.

Holding up too virtuous of a belief just doesn't work when you're playing the game of thrones. But still, I fell for his character. And I was mad. woutR wrote: I read somewhere that Tyrion actually fought in that war. Whatever reason they decided to cut it out, I'm fine with it. There are things happening that I'm more interested in than watching steels and flesh duke it out for who knows how long.

He does fight in it, but doesn't actually do much in the actual battle.

As the sword comes down the axe man misses and is like "sych"....and then the Queen, goffry and everyone starts laughing at Ned, and the King comes around the corner and is all like "HA....Got you Ned, you just got punked on "7 kingdoms Punked" ". And they reveal that its all a big joke on Ned, his son can walk, the Queen and her brother really arnt lovers and everything half way into episode one was just a big gag to get Ned.
Then they all sit around a big fire and get drunk and swap stories on how hard it was to keep a straight face while setting Ned up... The End!!!!

that comment would've come better from someone who was using intuition rather than knowledge but i read it all the same. By the way the Queen was screaming at Joffrey trying to make him stop that was obviously not the best thing to do. Anyone who has the slightest idea of how the game works knows that wasn't the best thing to do.
But it comes as no surprise that a spoiled brat wouldn't be graced with foresight. Also i can't imagine the next 3 books read
"and Joffrey's decision had no repercussions, and peace reigned throughout the land eternal"

"and Joffrey's decision had no repercussions, and peace reigned throughout the land eternal" I haven't seen the episode yet since someone in my house thought it would be a great idea to get rid of HBO, so I will download it later, but since I see that in the episode jaime was capture, it pretty obvious that I was talking in the fact that while I know what you were talking about that you're happy to see someone so stuck up with honor that he deserves to die, but my post was more so that honor is sometime necessary in situations, well keeping Ned alive would be the best idea since in the case of what just happened with Jaime he could be used as an exchange for each other. But I was just putting it out there as a hint, in case that stuff wasn't in the episode (Which it seems it was).

Pretty sure Ned is executed way before Jaime was even captured, but yes, keeping Ned alive to enforce some loyalty amongst his family would have been a good idea.

I was disappointed by the season finale but I guess there is only so much they can do in an hour time frame.
Can't wait until next season.

Can't wait until next season. Seriously? I thought it was sick, especially the ending. The production quality of this show is astounding. And yeah, anyone know if an air date for the second season is scheduled yet?
