It can cause liver/kidney damage especially if you don't work out. Along with some stating specifically to work out First and then take it immediately AFTER you work out.

I knew this would happen... Whey is natural and safe. Creatine is naturally occurring in your muscles and the muscles (meat) that you eat. It is safe to consume. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10999421 <-Warning, scientific study.

I don't really take any of that stuff at all. I just jog most mornings for about an hour and a half. Feels much better, especially where I live, I can just run straight into a dutch national park

I am a big guy... 270lbs 6ft4 trying to loose some weight also, while keeping my proteins at a high level. Milk is good for you but, to get the same amount of proteins in 300ml of milk+ 1 scoop of protein, you need to drink 1L of milk... that could become expensive + lots more calories....

Nice job getting your protein at Costco I also get mines from there and it's fairly cheap for the price your paying. I usually mix mines with milk because mixing it with water makes it taste disgusting. Btw, don't try the vanilla one. It has this chalky flavor aftertaste which is hella gross. Try getting 1g of protein per pound of your weight. Since your a pretty big dude, it would be hard to do so without protein shakes. Personally, I make two a day most of the time with milk, but I tough it out and drink it with water sometimes as well because milk is freaking expensive. You can get creative with your protein powder and use it for things like pancakes, oatmeal, etc. You can search around the internet and you'll find great recipes. There are also alternative foods that are rich in protein like cottage cheese or greek yogurts. Hope this helped!

You don't need to go to extremes if you want to loose weight.
Buying all that protein shit costs a fuckton of money in the long run. I just consume diary products and jog every day. It takes some time, but to me that feels alot better than to drink/eat expensive crap...

Eating good food which gives you everything you need will cost a lot!
If you can afford all that meat and "natural" food then for sure that is great. But it will cost more and takes much longer to prepare.
Protein shakes are more about convenience. Other supplements i dont take anymore.

On the contrary to MoP, how would one go about gaining mass before turning it into muscle?

Strong broscience in this one. You must have extra calories to grow muscle, where else will the muscle come from? It doesn't necessarily mean you have to be fat but you need extra calories. @Crimson Just bulk by eating 2.5k-3k calories a day and lift weights at the same time. If you are a newbie you will want to start off like a strength routine, like rippetoes. Keep bulking until you hit your goal weight, or you have too much extra fat that you don't want. Then when you are done bulking, just start a cut where you go on a 2k-2.5k calorie diet and lower bf percent.

What I meant was, You don't need to have to be fat. I weighed in at like 120lbs when I first started like 2 years ago. Yea that's scrawny, but it didn't stop me. All you have to do is eat right and workout regularly. Also, don't change your workout times too much(skipping days etc) cuz it can cause it too be strenuous and make you sore more often. Give your body something to get used to and keep that pace.

ugh i hate speaking in terms of calories. I can see why it's useful but its also so misleading. What you're eating (veggie, meat, raw sugar, etc) and in what form you're eating it is much more important than a calorie number. I'm sure most of the serious weightlifters know that don't get caught up in a number is all im saying.

You bulk by getting 16-18x of your body weight in calories and you cut by getting 10-12x of your body weight in calories or by having a 500 cal deficit.. 3500 calories lost in a week equals to a pound of body fat. That's what you need to be doing during a cut. If you don't eat enough, you will lose muscle.

I'm sure most of the serious weightlifters know that don't get caught up in a number is all im saying. Calories are just the most important in a serious regimen. Then you have your good fats and bad fats. Best learn the difference before you start munching on a bag of potato chips thinking it'll help you gain weight/muscle. Pasta is one of the big things for working out and gaining mass. Might not seem like it, but it is very helpful in gaining mass. Vegetables are commonly mislead to help you gain mass for working out, but they do not because they are too high in fiber and your body has a harder time absorbing caloric content from fiber. Pasta,Grains,Cereals,Rice,Beans,Potatoes all have high calorie densities. A single serving of Pasta has around 800-100 calories. Fat should be about 15%-25% of your total calories. If you wanna get serious about it then Just one tablespoon of flaxseed oil and two tablespoons of peanut butter would add nearly 500 calories to your daily diet and you’d hardly notice that any extra food was added. Transfat/Saturated Fat are BAD so don't eat foods that consist of a lot of those.

Sat fats are good for you now apparently. Or at least not as bad? I can't really say i've looked into the new findings with any seriousness but i know that sat fats are at least OK now lol.
Calories are a good indicator but like you said you need to know what you're eating. 200 calories of meat, 200 calories of veggies, and 200 calories of carbs are not equal by the time they leave your body. Just like if you were to puree any one of those versus eating them solid they would not be the same at the end of the day. Not only does too much fiber from veggies interfere with protein processing but your body digest them more easily than meat so you'll use more calories eating meat than the veggies. To me understanding those values is more important than saying i need XXXX calories per day. People tend to think of calories as something they're putting in their body instead of what their body is doing to whats being put in it.

Yes, sat fats are good for you. All fats (trans may not be included) raise HDL levels (good cholesterol) and Sat fat is the best at doing so. Sat fats are also essential for hormone production and regulation. Carbs on the other hand have been shown to raise bad cholesterol (LDL)... All this "don't eat fats!" stuff was started a long time ago with no scientific backing. People are starting to realize it's wrong and research is coming out to prove such. What did humans and our precursors thrive on before refined grains? Meat/fat.
TLDR: Fats are good sugar/carbs are bad.
*That sounded like an infommercial.
