Intel makes newer sockets which is why I said that. Though lately I believe they're all 1155. "Hardest" thing was more or less to me more costly to swap out. Who knows in 3 years there will be a newer socket or not. RAM will be RAM, PCIe will be PCIe, etc etc.

I didn't mean that in an offensive way, I meant to say; I'm keeping my computer for a long time; so if I have to spend that much to have better performance for a component that's hard to swap out (which seems to be an Intel habit), then I wouldn't mind paying more. But anyways, I checked that chart again, and it turns out the AMD FX-8120 has a better score than the i5 2500k, AND is cheaper than it. I reconfigured my build with the 8120 CPU and a motherboard that can support it, it will cost almost exactly $600 ($76 cheaper); so I'm pretty damn happy with that. AND I upgraded my video card to a 6850. Here's my build now: http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/cKdeThe price could be less than shown if Canada Computers price matches with some of the stuff; which would save me shipping costs!:) Attachment:

I think the price of the CPU went up by $10 over night; so I gotta act fast ><!

Then I came home and searched endlessly for about an hour to see if I really made the right choice or not, but now I'm just saying fu ck it. LOL All I need to do now is probably get a better heatsink and a small and cheap SSD just for my computer to boot up faster.

^ Will do. Alright, I have all the parts I need minus the GPU and RAM, those are on their way (hopefully I'll receive them within a week). I was really considering buying a small SSD today, but I just don't have enough money. I went well over my budget already Now with the SSD, if I buy it later on, how difficult will it be for me to transfer my OS from my HD to SSD and make the computer boot-up via the SSD (I can do that in the BIOS right?)

It's most likely easier to install the OS fresh on the SSD and boot from it instead, then on a rainy day backup whatever you need and reformat your HDD, or, if your HDD is large enough, leave the windows installation there and forget the 20(?) gb it takes up.

I don't think space will be an issue. I only want a SSD because of the boot times, I'll probably put programs that take long to load up on it also. Here's what I've built so far; I had to move the fan from the side (beside the i/o panel) to the top because I got one of those liquid coolers (I know); so I need that fan spot. Then again, the fu cking top fan is blocking my cpu fan pins (there's still enough room for the wire); so I'll have to take out the fan and reinstall it again (it was a bitch to install). My graphics card and ram have yet to arrive in the mail though

usually i would install the cpu and ram before putting the mobo into the case... because of the issue you stated and also with the ram, they can also be fiddly and sometimes you can break the lock in pins if youre not careful so i would recommend putting that in before you put in the mobo. if you actually do want that fan in that position you can either screw it onto the other side OR modify the case....

looks like a fair deal and decent build. Why only 4 gigs of ram though :/ just buy another 2x2gb for 20 and have 8gb.

ssd would be an improvement but not necessary in my opinion... they are so expensive that you really have to buy a small one (32g or something) to make it worth the price.
you wont need a fancy cpu cooler unless you are over-clocking. i over clocked once and had a problem after that... im not sure if it was the overclocking that screwed my pc up (unlikely because it was a very old machine that power supply burnt out...) anyway unless you know what you are doing i wouldnt recommend doing it straight out of the box.
finally with that other pc build... you really do not need a fancy case unless you really want to show it off or need extra cooling from special air flow or whatever the benefit is...

No, I don't have Win7 left over from anything. I don't see a difference in using x64 and x86, other than that you need more ram for x64; so I suppose x86 with 4gigs would be sufficient, no?
I got a water cooler because the CPU I chose runs at 125V, and it gets very VERY hot from what I've read; so it's just a safety precaution, and it's really quiet; so that's a +.
Btw, instead of having 2 fans in 2 different places, I think i'll just set up a push pull configuration with my radiator. With that being said, will the fins on the radiator get dusty?

Double post. So quite a few things happened, the water cooling radiator didn't fit the rear or top of my case; so I had to mount it on the bottom While I was installing the water block to the CPU, I had to twist-lock the water block into place when the thermal paste already made contact with my CPU, is this alright? >< I try my best with cable management, but this case is very limiting when it comes to that

Looks like the water cooling though may not fit, because it looks like it's in the way of the ram and video card. Again, why only 4gigs of ram when ram is that cheap, get 8 gigs -_-

You shouldn't have any temperature issues with or without the stock heatsink. As for your operating system, you don't need more ram to run 64 bit - you can use the 4gb you have. Programs that can take advantage of the 64 bit architecture will run.."faster" but there are a lot of factors. You probably won't notice it at all either way to be honest. If you have a choice, go with 64 bit on the off chance you get 4GB more ram in the future.

My board can read up to either 24 or 48. Probably the former, but doesn't mean I should waste money. Unless you're into a lot of rendering then I'll agree. Wanna know what gets really hot? First gen of i7s.

You're recycling a 32-bit copy of Windows? I find it illogical to get a fx-8120 and hd 6850, and hinder it with a 32-bit copy of Windows 7 and 4 gigs of ram. Windows 7 64-bit even has a slight performance increase over its 32-bit counterpart, though not noticeable. You should have replaced the water cooler with an extra 4 gigs of ram. Just an fyi you can use your 32-bit license key on a 64-bit copy of Windows. Enough of being Captain Hindsight though, glad to see you upgraded. Though you seriously look into what I said.
also
@penfold1992 The 64-bit only under performs when using around 2 gigs of ram, anything 4 gigs + the 64-bit performs better than 32-bit.

This only applies to low end onboard video cards(and what I mean by video card in this case is a graphics controller.) Most video card nowadays have dedicated ram.

Though you seriously look into what I said. pretty much what he said if you want it to last 5 years install 64bit, plus even though you have 4gb of RAM installed the RAM on the video card will take out some. Say your video card has 2GB of vRAM, you only have 2GB of system RAM left to use.I could be wrong but this is what I was taught. This only applies to low end onboard video cards(and what I mean by video card in this case is a graphics controller.) Most video card nowadays have dedicated ram. not quite what I was getting at, I was taught that windows 32bit can only address 4GB of memory and vRAM was included in that max limit because windows treated it the same but gave the first addresses to vRAM then to system RAM.

Well it just so happens that the ram I ordered was actually out of stock; so I'll wait until Friday and see what kind of sales come up Also, how can I prevent too much dust from entering my system? Is more dust accumulated by intake or exhaust. Andddd is it better to have more exhaust than intake or vice versa? Put filters behind/front the fans and keep the intake and exhaust balanced Just any kind of filter? I was thinking about getting like a sheet of aluminum mesh and screwing it on along with the fan, but then wouldn't the mesh vibrate and make noise while my computer is on?
