This thinking may be contrary to the Buddhist principal that "happiness isn't the destination, enjoy the journey." Thinking of a job as a burden to endure in order to get a prize at the end is stuck in the "destination" goal-oriented mindset.

I think BuDo is right. Even if the prize is equivalent to the sacrifice, if a job is simply a means to an end, our life is comprised of swinging back and forth between misery and bliss.
Find a job that correlates with your talents and it will never be too much of a burden. Find a job that you're passionate about and it will never be too much of a burden. Find a job that makes you satisfied and content and you can't ask for much more.
