Wow, this took me a while to figure out, both the binary and the rectangle thing, I'm getting slow.
10=2 in binary
The triangles do NOT match up into a perfect rectangle the second time around.
So... am I right? Don't make me google this.

(The line AB is actually two segments that are concave, while DE is convex which accounts for the missing square)

As you can see, the shapes form quadrilaterals rather than triangles because the ones on the bottom are 2° off. (112.4-90=22.4, 22.4!=20.4)
When the shapes are arranged into "triangles", both of them end up with a concave hypotenuse, and when they are moved to form the 5x13 rectangle they leave a small sliver of space between each other that amounts to exactly 1 square. The limited resolution of the GIF hides the space.
mad-tie wrote: What about 1+1=1? Binary also  No, 0b1 + 0b1 = 0b10
However, 0b1 * 0b1 = 0b1
Also, 0b1 or 0b1 = 0b1

2+2 might equal 5
BUT
6*9=42
I never read 1984, only a small synopsis.
the rectangle thing is easy, as stated by a few people, the 2nd one isn't exactly the amount of squares you think it is.

i saw this topic and read some post at school i directly come to the teachers lounge and ask my math teacher... he said that " 2+2= 5 is valid in reasoning, then 2+2= is always 4 and he didnt told me continually, and he will discuss it tommorow(i hate thrilling moments )"... and he also read the book that was so called "1989 thing..."
well i guess i'll post tommorow(if i can understand him  )  .

The AND, NOT, NAND, NOR, XOR, and XNOR operations from your link cannot be represented in ASCII, therefore they are never used on computers outside of specialized circuit diagram software.

You're talking about software, I was talking about hardware. But its binary language too!
