i use win7 and ubuntu... w7 on my main pc to avoid the compatability issues it has running some w7 applications, ubuntu for my laptop. i used mac for my music tech course, we had 18 mac's ordered in for our class and we already had imacs and mac laptops before hand and every single mac caused a problem for the majority of our class in one way or another. only out of experience is my opinion on their products, i dont know anyone who has not had an issue with itunes or an ipod either

if you buy a mac without a midi connection on it, then you have to buy one... which you could of done with a windows operating system... i say windows and not linux because ive used protools on a windows OS and not on a linux, im unsure if it works there.
oh and just because you have money to splash around on buying expensive things, doesnt necessarily mean you should. doing your research before buying any product is a good idea and for electronic items i would highly recommend doing research before hand

Once more, it is all preference. If you can't understand something as simple as that, then I'm frankly not interested in continuing to feed your faulty logic.

What makes you so presumptuous as to tell me, a complete stranger, how to spend my money? I, nor anyone else, need any particularly persuasive reason for spending money the way we do, and I don't see how anyone could find this to be a compelling argument to make against someone you don't even know. If you prefer to live a frugal, penny-pinching lifestyle, that is very much your prerogative, but do not be so presumptuous as to tell me how to spend my own cash.

On a last point, I don't understand why you're using iTunes, as your recent thread suggests, when you have such disdain for Apple. If you do not support a company, vote with your wallet and take your business elsewhere. You're obviously dissatisfied with Apple's current direction and you've made it perfectly clear that you do not want to be their customer. If you believe this company does not have your best interest at heart, then it's just borderline masochistic to keep using their products. You have an axe to grind with Apple, and your complaints may be valid, but to pretend that everyone else has the same chip on their shoulder is delusional at best.

im using itunes because i have an ipod, it was the first apple product i have actually owned and seeing as it was doing so well at the time i thought id give it a try. im using itunes and not any other software like media monkey because apple dont have support for anything that isnt their product, i dont use itunes to actually manage my music but just to use with my ipod.

im not telling you how to spend your money, and you can not do research at all, you dont have to build your own pc either...
i said i would recommend doing research into products before buying them... i wish i had when i got this ipod, i would have then known its not all what it is hyped up to be.

unlike you, im not a multi billionaire so i cant just go and buy a new mp3 player whilst i pass my current ipod to those middle-class/peasants who look after those flowers in my garden.

You don't have to explain yourself to me; my principles aren't the ones being played fast and loose with here. Though, if you were actually true to your convictions, I see no reason why that iPod couldn't have been sold or exchanged for a non-Apple player and iTunes for Foobar, or something. Practice what you preach.

I would've asked other open-ended questions, but it seems like you're just replying now for the sake of replying without any real compelling material to offer and I have zero interest in being given recycled responses. But to be fair, this was going nowhere very quickly.
