Ok, first of all, I know this should have been posted in Technical Help but since it's kinda urgent I decided to post where more people visit.

My problem is when I turn the computer on, the harddrives and all that crap shows up just fine and when the XP loading screen appears my monitor just shuts off, the little lamp is still shining but the screen is completely black. It is like as soon XP is finished loading the monitor shuts off. The problem occured when I installed back WinXP from Win7.

I tried pretty much everything, restarted the computer, plugged out and in the wires. I have even tried to start in Safe mode, but then it just keeps loading and nothing more than that happens. :soosad:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit:
I let the computer standby for a while and when I came back it had started, but the resolution is fucked up, I can only choice 800x600 and color quality: 4 bit, seems like the drivers are effed up.

Edit:
Tried to change video card, still the same problems.

Does the color of that little LED on your monitor change at the moment your monitor goes from on to off?

If yes, your computer tells the monitor it no longer needs it.

If no, farked.

Result: farked.

I hope this advice was useful. Goodbye.

from what you are telling me you can see the bios loading and all that stuff. but the problem is when xp starts to load.

try another monitor (if you have a CRT (the tubes) they tend to support a lot of resolutions that a LCD or LED might not support)

if not fixed attempt to run off the motherboards GPU. if it works then disable the motherboard GPU in bios and check to see if the graphics card works.

all else fails reinstall windows. however if you have another computer stick the hard drive in the other one and see if it has the same problem.

Tried using 2 other monitors, same problem. I got it to start once, but then my resolution was farked up (800x600) and Color Quality was at 4 bit, I couldn't change one of them. It is some hardware that is broken, now the problem is to find which one. :soosad:

Your problem occurs when it gets to windows
other monitors have the same problem
other video cards have the same problem

this is almost definitely a ---software--- problem. Not a hardware problem.

i suggest moving the hard drive to another computer see if the problem follows or booting up a linux live CD see if the problem continues.

Eh I would of at least tried a live CD first. formating + installing takes longer then downloading the CD and burning for testing.

From what I seem to understand your Drivers are as you say farked up.

You can try the computer with another monitor to see is it just the monitor as mentioned above.

You know how Windows are, when you upgrade (in this case, downgrade) or anything make sure you delete your old shtuff before you install your new shtuff. Windows have a tendency of just adding crap on top of the old crap and it turns into a damn mess.

I guess that could be true since I never really had any experience with OS upgrade/downgrade problems.

Since I always like to do a clean install :P
