Hoes before Bros!

If your friend doesn't like her would he really care if you are taking his sloppy seconds?

OR over time they could develop those feelings for each other again

Aren't you putting the cart before the horse. You have to find out if she actually likes you and wants to date you before you worry about stuff like that :sohappy: Good luck.

Your relationships aren't really any of his business anyway and it was 2 earth cycles ago that they went out. Make sure she isn't using you to get closer to him..

I would give RuYi my first born child if she implemented a rule where all threads started on the basis of highschool angst to be insta-locked.

Or just have a giant cesspool of a thread where all the "wah wah girls boo-hoo" topics could go.

OT:
Be a man, tell your friend what you told us if he says it's fine ask the poor girl out if not find a new best friend and ask the girl out. On the off chance you cherish friendship over some girl you have a crush on--move on and find someone else. I feel this piece of advice gets passed on in every thread like this. -.-

sry if i made a nublet thread i just dont know who i could of gone to cause no one really has a mind like srf. but with the advice i got im gonna keep our date and ask her out the day of the date/ maybe the day after. keep it on the low and see what he does when he figures it out. if hes mature enough he'll just be friends with me and deal with it if not i'll jsut have to talk to him

By choosing to go out with her, and not tell your friend about it first
you chose this girl over your friendship.

Well, be honest, with everyone. And accept the fact that in order to get some things, you lose others.

Follow your heart. But sometimes.. you Just have to tell your heart NO.

That's because they were 12 at the time.

Easy, if you like the girl and she likes you then go for it, your friend will get over it.

older teens and young adults, i would ask ur friend for permission, granted his answer is within reason

for high school shit, it really doesn't matter

Well thats stupid. It's part of growing up, you have a lot of questions. Asking a forum isn't the best way but it should by no mean get locked. Why does it matter to you? Just click "Back" and voila :D Plus, this is freaking Off-Topic Lounge. Have you not seen the threads that came out of this section before? This thread is totally legit.

I'm getting tired of this excuse. I grew and went through all this bullshit just like everyone else, I wasn't born into my twenties. I never once felt this need to run to a forum and ask for advice. Advice, might add, that you damn well know you won't be using because if you had the nuts to put these advice to action you would not be here asking for help in the first place. Since (in this particular situation) there are really only two routes you can take;
A) Be a dickhead and see the girl in the shadows and never confronting your friend.
B) Be a dickhead.

My point being until you graduate highschool you are, and forever will re-main, a "dickhead". I was a dickhead, dom was a dickhead, .curve was a dickhead but we grew up using logic from our life mistakes just like millions before us have done.

That alone isn't even my biggest qualm with these types of threads. The problem is they don't even seem genuine but instead some form of an act " Hey look I'm young and I have girl problems...look, look...look at me!" add this to the abundance of these types of thread and you are going have disgruntle members. Members who hated highschool drama with every fiber of their being and do not enjoy seeing it on the forums they visit.

Also this is why I proposed the idea of just having it stuck in one thread. Then all the pseudo SRF counselors can spew their advice all over the angsty little kids who yearn for it just like a giant, warm, heaping shot of cu-- well you get the point. Name it the "Advice Section" for all I care that way I can avoid that thread like the plague.

Or we can request that "Thread Previewer" (Hover over the thread, shows the OP) tool :sohappy:

You got that backwards.

This is a matter of personal opinion and choice...for me she'd be off limits because I would put myself in my friends shoes...I probably wouldn't want to have to see her on a regular basis

Some people asking for advice might just be something else than your old-fashioned attention whore. Sometimes, I can't help but wonder what the actual average age of people posting on these forums really is.

[EDIT]: Main point of post is here ^
Carry on reading only if you have enough time, and you agree to expose yourself to what you may perceive as relatively large degrees of emotional awkwardness, as seen in the first line of the text that follows ('Here's a confession'). :)

Here's a confession, coming from the 17-year-old Stress, much different from the Stress three or four years ago. I will not reiterate what actually happened, I would simply like to show some of the consequences, and offer my point of view on the matter discussed by Hostage (in his longer post).

And if anyone who reads this was around back then, and remembers, go on an ramble about the whole Ito (and MrFudge) period. I don't care. Looking back, I now realize that what happened back then was important to my growing up (I was 14 or 15 at that time, I can't remember, honestly, and I can't be bothered to look up specific threads. Neither should any of you, unless you have too much time on your hands, and really *do* want to unveil Stress' infinite emotional awkwardness). I got roughed up several times, by various people, and by the - back then - 'important' people as well. Others were there to offer their help and advice, and it felt good, in a way.

That was the ebb and flow of things: daily confessions, over-analyzing unstable feelings, and pain after pain. Only afterwards, after letting everything cool down, did I really understand where I had made my mistakes, and went on to be free of any need to share my emotional problems with other people, over the Internet.

Spoiler!

It happened because I was looking for answers in the - what turned out to be - the wrong places: with people who were, indeed, friends, but I with whom I could not interact in a healthy, human manner.

The sad part is that *anyone* who has a - maybe - honest problem, and - maybe - has no real place to go to for help, is instantaneously labeled an 'attention whore'. Mind you, the ' - maybe - ' is there; on the Internet, you can never know. If you're dealing with someone who can't find answers to important questions, or who is simply asking the wrong questions, why not prove your maturity by ignoring them, or showing mercy, not contempt?

Getting 'right' answers to the wrong questions is one of the most painful states to be in. 'Right', sometimes stereotypical answers; all of them should work in theory; none of them actually do. If you're here, doing what I've described above, you might just be asking the wrong questions, and you might just be looking for good answers in bad places.

However, someone reading this might be different. For some, getting advice over the Internet might actually work. I couldn't say anything about that. It is inconceivable for me now that anyone could have a soul and exist in such a manner, however natural it seemed, three or four years ago.

Peace,
Stress.
