wow I feel stupid asking this but for some reason I just cant remember the term for this. I tried google and I cant find it.
the definition is like basically the colonies purpose is to serve the mother country, and the mother country exploits the colonies.
Whats the term for it??? I just cant seem to remember it.

yes thats what I thought it was mercantilism...however none of the definitions exactly match up with the one I know.
from dictionary.com--> Mercantilism: An economic doctrine that flourished in Europe from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries. Mercantilists held that a nation's wealth consisted primarily in the amount of gold and silver in its treasury. Accordingly, mercantilist governments imposed extensive restrictions on their economies to ensure a surplus of exports over imports. In the eighteenth century, mercantilism was challenged by the doctrine of laissez-faire.
