Hi! I am going to have to get a new phone soon since my old kinda fell from the 6th floor and I have been using my old nokia 6700 classic, but in dire need for a Smartphone. I certainly don't want to buy an iPhone but I was thinking that now when new windows 8 phones (and the OS) is comming out, maybe they'll have more apps and stuff avaliable. So I thoguth about gettin one of these new things: Nokia Lumia 920 (love the red one): or Samsung ATIV S: or HTC X8: I was wondering is anyone else considering getting one of these? I generaly prefer Nokia's because I had a Nokia N9 before. Price shouldnt be a big issue since I dont think these will cost more 400€...I hope atleast.

The Lumia 920 has very impressive specs and is the best out of the 3 you listed, but personally I'd go for Android (and I did)

I'm thinking about getting the Nokia 920 or the iPhone 5. I would go for the Nokia if I were you. Samsung is crap, believe me. They are good when you buy them but after a year or so they're only about 50% of the original product you bought. Their quality decreases rapidly. Nokia guarantees quality, so if you like W8 then you should go for the Nokia.
The HTC I don't know that much about, but I've seen my friend's HTC also dramatically decrease in quality. I think I'm beginning to understand why people call Samsung and HTC cheap crap. I bought the S1 when it came out and now, 20 months later it's the most sh1tty phone you can imagine. I know people who still have the first iPhone and it runs much more smoothly then my crappy S1. I will never buy a Samsung mobile anymore.
From now on, it will be Nokia + W8 or Apple's overpriced sh1t. but I'd rather have that overpriced sh1t than that cheap samsung sh1t.

I myself am waiting for the Ativ S to come out Can't wait till it's november I was very happy with my samsung phone, which is now 4y+ old & has been going a bit crazy in the last few months I have seen too many Nokia's break down after a few months, hopefully this new series won't go the same way. But I'm sticking with Samsung.

I am pissed that the Nokia Lumina 920 is exclusive to AT&T in the US because I would of gotten it if it came to Verizon. I'd get the Lumina all the way, best build quality and seems to be Microsoft's flagship phone.

Code: “In an effort to demonstrate the benefits of optical image stabilization (which eliminates blurry images and improves pictures shot in low light conditions), we produced a video that simulates what we will be able to deliver with OIS …. We should have posted a disclaimer stating this was a representation of OIS only. This was not shot with a Lumia 920 … We apologize for the confusion we created.” Yeah, right. Simulates. Why not use the actual product. Also Quote: so when you turn on the OIS - professional team on a white van appears and make some photos? Damn, I guess I'll have to buy one Lumia for my wedding. LOL

That's total bullsh1t. maybe it would be true if you would use the phone onl for calling and texting people, but I didn't buy a mobile phone, I bought a smartphone. It has turned into the most sh1tty phone I've ever had and I always update it, make sure to delete all the crap I don't use. same thing happened to my little brother's S2 and my friend's desire HD. after a year or so their speed drops dramatically and they freeze every half an hour or so. my phone even freezes if I get like 3 whatsapp messages at the same time. Apple's products may be restricted and overprices, but they ALWAYS run smoothly. I can see it, since most of my classmates have iPhones. some of them have an 3 or 4 year old iPhone, but they still run like they're new. so now go ahead and tell that your 2 year old Samsung is still running perfectly and that the quality is still the same as when you bought it new. but we both know you would be lying

double post: I just went to my provider's website to check how long before I could order a new phone since my sh1tty samsung froze on me again, and God must have rewarded me for my samsungrage, because today it is exactly two years ago since I ordered my sh1tty Samsung. So I can order a new phone now. I went ahead and ordered the new iPhone 5. And since I have been a customer of theirs for 4 years already, I'm getting the iPhone 5 + unlimited calling and texting + 14 mbit internet with 2500 MB cap for 12,50 euro a month for the first 9 month! After that I can change my total contract except for the phone, so I can change the texting/calling and the internet and start paying the normal prices. This will last 11 months. I calculated after the first 9 months I have to pay like 45 euro/month. This must be the best deal you can get on an iPhone 5. It's like the heavens are encouraging me to switch to Apple So yup, fck you Samsung, hello Apple

I ain't an Apple fanboy myself, but I think iPhone 5 is a pretty decent phone overall, it doesn't have anything groundbreaking feautures in it or anything, but it's not the words phone out there, however, I wouldn't buy it. Reason why I don't buy apple's products is the comppany, sue every single thing that has rounded edges or something? Then ask for hundreds of euros for something that no one else offers because they don't let anyone make something that even resembles iPhone or iPad a bit at first glance. If they can offer better service and overall better products than those who "copy their inventions" there would be no problems. The apple v samsung thing just proves that they are afraid of other comppanies, and if they don't feel safe about their products having something so unique and good features, then how can I?
Sorry about that but its just my opinion, now back to the topic...
Has anyone of you had a windows phone before? and what were your experiences? I was thinking windows phone could be a wise move since there is whole OS for PC comming out (well, imo it's more for tablets and is the usual fail from microsoft like every other windows OS) but that could really help with the fact that there are not a lot Apps in the marketplace and not a lot of windows phone users anyway.

You mean a 2G iPhone? Those are pure crap. And why would you assume I would be lying if I said my Galaxy Fascinate still runs at 100%? Just because you got a defective phone doesn't mean all Galaxy phones are crap. From the time I had my phone, my gf had the 3G, 3GS, and the iPhone 4 before she gave up all together on shitty quality Apple and bought an SGSII

well tell your girlfriend the SGSII ain't an improvement.
and if your old samsung still runs smoothly, you must have hit the jackpot.
And it didn't only happen to me, but to my father's, brother's and all my friend's samsung/htc, though Samsung is the worst of all. And yup, even the S3 is guilty. I will never buy a samsung anymore.

Lets see here, her 3G up and just died, the 3GS got shattered from a 2.5ft drop, and the 4's home button died after 6 months. SGSII for one year, no problems. Working phone > No phone.

My brother & most of my friends went to a windows phone (W7 phone) & they are very happy about it The OS itself is very decent, it's just not really well know with the big public (who knows android & iOS) The fact u have to sync with zune sux, but will be changed in W8 W7 phones will also get a visual upgrade so it will look like W8 (W7.5 update)
Never had any experience with HTC phones, so can't discuss on that point
Apple, never was & never will be a big fan Their support is utter shit When u buy an Apple product in a shop in Belgium, Apple provides 1 year warranty.. Where sellers in Belgium are obligated by law to give 2y warranty... If u buy an Apple product online, u do get the 2y warranty... The support at Apple itself also sucks, when they see the smallest dent or scratch -> user damage -> oow (out of warranty) Price to fix: 200+€... minimum And so many problems with the home buttons on these 4/4S jeeez Can't count the amount of iphones I had to send to apple for that button.
That & the itunes conflicts fuuuuu Having to deinstall all apple products on a pc in a specific order & then reinstall in a specific order just so itunes could find the iphone & sync QQ

She's not exactly a smarthphone user, but she said that every basic things it has to do (SMS, Calls, Music, Browsing, Facebook...) it does really well and smooth. And I think the UI (W8) looks amazing, big and small tiles, which are live, makes it very customizable without having to download any skins or launchers. And especially the Nokia and HTC ones look really sweet (well, except the grey 920). I haven't really used an iPhone before, but since they seem to sell a lot of protective shells and stuff (well I understand that screen protectors are really useful for any phone) I don't think it's really durable, but depends on a user of course.

all sellers in Europe are obliged to give a 2year guarantee, so you can fight that. also it costs like 2 euro a month to insure your phone, which is practically free. it will cover damage, theft, burn, losss, pretty much everything. If you feel like wanting a new iphone, just throw that shit from your stair and tell them it was an accident, you get a new one within a week or so. you gotta love insurance. 2 euro is nothing, you should definetely take it!

The majority of all corporation's level of support sucks whether it be phone or other....I'd stick to the product itself for comparisons.
I find apple's product to be perfect for me. Its intuitive, innovative, modern and relativity speaking, reliable... Apple came out with the first phone (In the west) that mirrors the online browsing experience of a PC and caused the industry (In the west) to scramble with lots of other manufacturers jumping on their tail and going as far as to even copy them.... Barefaced and blatantly too to the point of getting sued *Cough *Cough samsung...
Apple is an innovator. Nobody respects the copycat (or shouldn't) even when the copycat improve (or try to) upon the original.. When you rush to market a product just to keep up with the innovator you tend to put out an inferior product because you're playing catch up...I can't respect samsung because they're not an innovator in this arena..

You do know Steve Jobs copied, and blatenly stole a LOT of ideas/products from other companies and "rebranded" it as his own? Apple is very well known (at least in the tech field) for stealing ideas and polishing it.

They seemed to have the same problems as I did, that's why I didn't choose for the S3, even though it has the best hardware and it is a beast. I just know for a fact if I buy a S3 now, it would be great, but in a year or so it would be 30% of the original product, that's just how it goes with Samsung. They have always had this problem, even before the Galaxy products. Do you remember the Samsung Touchwiz, Samsung Omnia? Those had an even worse quality decrease then the Galaxy phones. And Android is the best OS, but as long as they can't make it stable under all circumstances, I won't buy it ever again. I'd rather have a restriced OS like iOS, atleast that's stable. Can't really say that about Android. I will move to Apple products, but not because Apple convinced me with their products, but because Samsung failed me with theirs. So yup, until Samsung fixes their amateuristic problems, they're just making cheap and bad sh1t. But if you like cheap and bad stuff, by all means, keep buying from Samsung

Someone @ YT wrote: What Apple succeeds at is giving their products an insanely high level of polish, but don't be fooled into thinking that they actually come up with all these great ideas. Despite popular belief Apple has only invented a handful of things. Steve Jobs was a master at buying, borrowing, or outright stealing other people's ideas and making them beautiful and marketable. They basically sued samsung for doing the exact same thing they have done for years.

Yeah, fight a multibillion company over warranty issues as a small business ... sure We once send an iphone to Apple to get it repaired, phone was 13 months old & it just broke down one day. No damage at all. We send it to Apple, they tell us: oow Price to fix: 250€ We didn't agree seeing the phone was 13 months old & we are obliged to give 2y warranty. After a lot of mailing it came to this: We could either pay to fix the phone or they would keep the phone at their center... We ended up paying the 250€ ourselfs They practically told us: F*ck You And this is why I never will be a fan of Apple My samsung phone worked 3.5y+ fine; last half year it has been slow & going crazy Ativ S going for 550€ - some online stores are already taking pre-orders should release around november 1st Apple isn't innovative Steve Jobs was Every iphone had something really new and special while Jobs was on the job the iphone 5 is really nothing but a hardware upgrade

You can win, even from a multibillion dollar company, it's not like they will use all their resources to make sure you don't get the iPhone repaired. Just make sure you are right, and seeing as they are obliged by European Law, you are. I've alot of issues with several companies, from banks to insurance to mobile providers and I've won them all. If you know your rights, you know where you can file a complaint and you are good with words, there is no way you won't get what you deserve. I usually get what I want along with a letter of apology.
Anyways, if you want you can avoid all these problems, like I said, take an insurance. It's really no cost at all, especially if you're a business.

I really don't understand the hate on iPhones. I feel like this forum is very hipster.
I like my iPhone. I mean it's exactly what BuDo said and for what I use it for, it's perfect.
