Quote: A police officer who dropped off his daughter at her Phoenix elementary school was asked by the school’s principal not to wear his uniform to the school because other parents were concerned that he was carrying a gun, MyFoxPhoenix.com reported. Scott Urkov is a police officer for the Coolidge Police Department. The department told him not to comment to media inquiries, but immediately after he received the no-uniform request, he posted on Facebook. "Nothing like your kids school calling and asking if I could not come to pick up my daughter in uniform cause parents were concerned when their kids came home telling them there was a man at school with a gun, “ he posted. “Are you freaking kidding me?" His daughter attends Entz Elementary School, which is in the Mesa Unified School District. Read More Here A ridiculous.. request?

That sure does sound pretty ridiculous. But then again, after all the somewhat brutal shooting-episodes where police officers have shot people that one could argue they could as well have "tased", I do get some of the parents' concerns.
But then again, unless you've done something wrong, a policeman will never shoot you. It should actually be safer to have a police officer with a gun around the school 24/7, lol.

I am posting for an equally awesome reason as Tasdik which I won't disclose at this time.

It's not the police officer they need be worried about. It's every body else that has such easy access to guns...

It's kinda retarded. I'd think most kids would say they saw a policeman at school today rather than just simply saying they saw a man with a gun.... The kid or kids who relayed their observation in that manner are just probably seeking attention and using the relatively recent school shootings to draw that attention.....The parents should think about that possibility and not make a big deal about it.....

I'm sure the kids are smart enough to know a difference between a police officer and a normal person with a gun. It's silly to request an officer to do that. I would've replied with an equally retarded request but I can't think of one off the top of my head.
