I haven't really posted around here much so I don't if you guys remember me.
Before I came into college, I had the idea that I would major in Chemical Engineering and graduate with that degree and get a really good job. However, then I realized things aren't as simple as that. When I got into my 2nd year, I started applying for some intern/co-op jobs and I didn't like the nature of the job of being in a power plant or facility managing systems for a corporation. Although, Chemists are the actually people responsible for new products Chemical Engineers make more money than them. Why you ask? Because Chemical Engineers design ways to mass produce those products and then making their company profitable. But anyways I didn't like the idea of being a Chemical Engineer anymore.
Then after my second year was done, I stayed here for the summer to take business classes and do research. Now I'm into my 3rd year as a Finance major, and I'm switching again because Finance doesn't have good job prospects. And now I'm switching into Management Information Systems(MIS) which is an up and coming field. Although MIS has good job prospects, I realized the reason behind it was that the economy is integrating technology to make them more accounted/organized, and handle large amounts of data.
All in all, I am rambling but I don't know where I see myself in 5 years.
Where do you guys see yourself in five years?

If you asked me like 3 years ago I would have answered probably in the military. Now? Realistically I'll see myself working at Microsoft. I went into community college did a bit of gen ed classes, left, a year passes I start attending Digipen, and 3 semesters later here I am wasti- rather investing 13.2k a semester into a job at Digipen. I hate ever mentioning that it's a 'video game' college with the social stigma attached to it, but hey I didn't come here because of that. I came because of the hire rates with computer science.. and to work at nice game studio. Of all the upperclass I've talked to either they end up working for Microsoft more or less. Plenty of them drop out in their junior year due to already getting jobs. Why continue to spend that money when you can earn it, right?
I don't hate computer science, I think it's fun and enjoyable. What I hate about computer science, and regrettably I'll say this, are the people. At least at Digipen where half the people are socially retarded and have no self respect and dress like retards. There's a guy walking around with a trench coat in the middle of summer with a dog collar with his house keys on it? Really? I can go on, but I'd rather not.
Enough of all that and back to what I was saying, in five years I'll see myself working at Microsoft, realistically speaking, but if a chance does come up where I do get lucky and some fun game studio does offer me a job of 50k+ I'll hop right on it. I would loooooooooooooooooove to work for Q-Games despite them being located in Kyoto, I'd still hop on the job. The games they've made have been all fun, minus 2nd Lap.
That's my job at least how I'd figure how it'd end up like. Though when I do start getting money and paying off my loans, I'd like to buy a new corvette or '69 and a couple WW2 guns, colt 1911 and a rifle which will probably be a kar98. Both things I've always wanted to have, but money was never there.
5 more semesters I tell myself. Only 5.

I would do anything to get into Cornell but it's next to impossible now, it's depressing but who really thinks of careers when they are 14..? Anyways I am aiming for a computer science degree ("job security") but I don't even understand the concept of numbers..

Chemical Engineer major here, I like the classes and enjoyed elementary mass transfer and kinetics etc.
I hope to work for Lindt Chocolate factory as the head process engineer :3
Most people who graduate with an engineering degree don't end up engineering. The problem solving skills you learn can be applied to more than just industry.

Not exactly the brightest start, but in financial terms it's good, work environment is great, and it's an office job which is hard to get in my country, but on the long run I'm not staying there, planning on getting any IT related job in UAE, probably dubai, when I can afford flying there and staying for a couple of months maximum searching for a job, this is probably where I'll be in five years.

Lot of people tend to have an overly excited but under-developed view of what they want to do career wise.....I was one of those....Took me a while to figure it out but not until I tried a well informed approach before making my next move....The next 5 years for you will sort itself out as long as you keep trying to know yourself a bit more...

I'm studying the Electrical Engineering, but IT and CS course, and I'll be a programmer when I finish it. That's about it, that's where I see myself in 5 years.
And I feel the same way about people in IT and CS as Toshiharu, 95% of them are a total socially challenged. You can't have normal conversation with them.

I have no idea. I have those thoughts where I want to be, but those aren't really carreer related. This is my last year in high school and I would like to go to uni or something, but I have nothing that I would actually like to study there. Basically the two main things I'm into are art and music, but those aren't really useful I feel.

Honestly, I have no idea what the **** I'm doing.
I totally went full retard mode my first semester of college, played SRO instead of going to class. Ended up dropping out.
Went back a year later, half ass tried at college, made the Dean's list.
Started the next semester, and was like "WTF am I doing here? I don't even know."
So I left again. Went off to North Dakota to work in the oil fields with my older bro and my best friend. Made a shit ton of money, enjoyed the experience.
But then my older brother got married, and a job back home making a shit ton of money. So then it was just me and my best friend. But when you work and live with someone 24/7, you get tired of each other.
So, I started looking for something new, something that would take me back home. So, my brothers father-in-law stepped into the picture, he owns a fairly successful garage door business. It's just a mom and pops sort of deal, but he makes like 200k/year.
So I left North Dakota, moved to Florida to learn the trade in hopes of moving the business back home to Tennessee.
And now? I've been down here a few months. Still learning the trade. The job is alright, I just hate how they run things down here. Not very professional.
Hoping to be able to get back home and start my own garage door business within the next few months.
Fingers crossed.

Seems like everyone here is studying something really hard and useful, I'm over here majoring in Philosophy and Ancient History. In 5 years I can see myself being a teacher of some sort or maybe being homeless.

Vaya, take it from me, i've lived in Dubai for 8 years roughly, (2000-2008) I basically saw the whole thing explode in front of me. Although I was young. If you want to live in Dubai, and work there, you need to have a solid deal with the company, either they pay your rent/house, water, and electricity, or you will ruin yourself trying to pay for it yourself. That is if you want to live a decent life there. Of course that is unless they pay you a very good amount of money. Anyways, back to me. I am currently in a college type course which is an intensive 9 months, which will allow me to work in airline companies in the offices. Pay is generally good, you start low (35k-45k) but you get bonuses and the pay raise comes quickly. It can go up to (100k-110k) after a decent amount of years. My goal is to work for an airline company which is important. Air Transat (local company). Maybe in 5 years I see myself applying for Quantas or Air New Zeland, if I can of course. Life is pretty good right now actually.

Most people in Engineering/Mathematica are some of the most socially challenged people I have ever met. Most of my friends who would be considered "normal" are mostly business majors or education majors. Sadly most engineers do fufill the stereotype that are known, addicted to anime, obsessive gaming, social awkward etc etc. Atleast the ones I've met.

Bachelor in Biological Sciences. Whether I'm going to stick to going to Med.school as originally planned or diverge into Pharmacology is uncertain yet

That's very true, I've been checking http://dubai.dubizzle.com/ and the apartments prices are going crazy, unless if I get an 8,000+ AED salary at least I'll need a job with accommodation, but overall there are tons of job vacancies over there so I'm quite positive about it!

I'd say to live a decent life in Dubai you would need 18,000 AED minimum per month. Plan your stuff carefully. Lots of under-paid jobs and crazy work hours in dubai. Food is alright, not that expensive, cars are a bit more expensive, depends on what you get of course, gas is uber cheap obviously, and the rest like restaurants, and other week-end things, extremely expensive. I'd say look at other stuff other than apartments before applying there. Please don't take me the wrong way. I'm not trying to discourage you into not going to Dubai, but i've seen many people struggle to stay afloat whilst living there. By the way you're young now, but if you ever plan on having a kid in the future, the school prices in Dubai, forget it, its FCKING expensive. (The last one I went to was 55,000 AED per year)

I am on my first year of studying Marketing and Management Communication at a university here in Denmark. In 5 years I'll probably be sitting at a desk at my first job after my master degree in cooperate communication and marketing. I like the idea, at least Where I would really like to see myself, however, is running my own company. Preferably an online company offering some sort of service to the consumer market. The thought intrigues me
