Correct. Summer = day light saving, winter = regular.

Actually it's still wrong in Belgium.
IIRC some random explanation gy a geographyteacher in highschool the real time is 2hours back in summer and 1 in winter, or is it forward?
Anyhow if it's 2pm in summer, it is only 12 acording to the sun.
<confused.

Congress moved it up a few weeks in the US. They claim it will save billions in oil consumption. I have my doubts.
I hate daylight savings, I will never truly understand why we do it.

Well
i know why we do it in the UK.
has to do with farmers during the Great War (ww1) who were given an
extra hour of daylight to get more crops (i.e. food for the troops)

What do you mean? It's a wonderful idea. For the working class, they get 1 extra hour to spend time with family. The sun is well up when I wake up even though we just switch to DST anyway (I'm aware that in the northern part of the country and Canada, it's darker).
I like it even with the new 3 extra week mandate.

sure it's nice to have a bit more sunshine in the evening, but it's darker in the morning, hard to get up if it still looks like night time outside.

net net you still have the same amount of time. If you took a half hour out and eliminated Daylight savings you wouldn't see a difference.
It's not like you actually get more time.
Pisses me off I had to wake up an hour early this week.
Besides I'm inside an office all day long during the week, what do I care if the sun is shining or there's a monsoon outside.
