Hey Kevin,

We recently completed a user satisfaction review and want to thank all of the Guides who are doing a great job of providing ChaCha users the absolute best search experience on the Web. We were delighted to receive the level of positive feedback that we did about so many of you. After all, you are the touchstones of the ChaCha product each and every day.

Unfortunately, this audit also revealed that we need to do a better job of ensuring that all Guides are consistently providing a quality user experience. Starting immediately, Guides who do not uphold this standard will be deactivated.

There is nothing more important than our user experience, and we are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure it is SUPERIOR to what our competitors provide. Simply put, ChaCha users should get the exact results they need. Many times those results cannot be found on the first page of Google, Yahoo, MSN or other conventional search engines.

Below is a short list of some of the feedback we have received from many of the users who have recently searched using ChaCha Guides:

- “It took too long to respond and clarify the exact search term.”

- “The results came straight from Google or Yahoo and your search bar, all of which I had already checked.”

- “My Guide was completely unprofessional during the chat session.”

- “When the first Guide couldn’t help me, I got transferred around without knowing what was going on. All he had to do was tell me what he was doing.”

- “It didn’t seem like my search was that complicated. Why did I get sent to so many different Guides?”

ChaCha’s Guide community must be composed of professional Internet researchers and user-driven service specialists who provide an amazing experience to every individual who searches on ChaCha. We are continuing to expand the tools we offer to help Guides provide a great search experience and share expertise. We will reward everyone who excels as ambassadors of ChaCha. However, we believe the feedback we have received requires immediate action and are making the following changes.

Guide Invites Temporarily Turned Off

Too many websites are distributing Guide invites to anyone who is interested regardless of skill or knowledge. As a result, we are temporarily turning off invites to ensure that our quality Guides do not lose any income from searches that unqualified [new] Guides could absorb. Qualified Guides can still generate new income by signing up for Mission: ChaCha.

New Training Requirements

New Guides now have 15 training sessions to be promoted to overall Pro level. If, after 15 training sessions, a Guide is not promoted, he/she will not receive any additional training sessions and will immediately be deactivated from the ChaCha system. As a reminder, there are new videos, a revised Guide Handbook, and solo practice sessions available to all Guides.

*Please note that if any current Guides are demoted to Apprentice level, they will then have 15 sessions to be promoted back up to Pro status.

Continuing Education



ChaCha now offers seven new training videos, a revised Guide Handbook, Guide Application 2.0, and a way to practice on the application to become familiar with all aspects of it. ALL Guides should watch the new videos and practice individually after viewing each video. Here are the seven videos, which may be accessed from “Videos” under “My Account” in the Underground:

1. Introducing Guide App 2.0
2. Modifying the Primary Phrase and Why
3. Categorizing the Search
4. The Browser, Favorites, and Results Tabs
5. The Browser Window
6. Building a Result
7. Editing and Using Favorites

During practice sessions, you can check the Help section, cheat sheets or the Guide Handbook for more information if necessary. ALL Guides should be familiar with all aspects of Guide Application 2.0 to raise ChaCha search quality and surpass what is provided by Google, Yahoo & Ask.

Income Enhancements



Soon we will announce some significant updates to the Mission: ChaCha incentive program, making it easier for Guides to increase the amount of money earned from ChaCha. We will also introduce a program where Guides can generate new income by improving the quality of results ChaCha returns.

Mac Version of Guide Application 2.0 Coming Soon



The Mac version of the Guide Application 2.0 will be released in mid-March. We will let the entire Guide community know as soon as it’s available.

Our goal is to help the millions of people who want easier, better and faster search results; our Guides who deliver on this promise will no doubt share in ChaCha’s growth and rewards.
