No

they dont...these people who watch movies or play games and then go and
act agressivly do so not because of what they have just see or played.

But rather because they are "un-hinged", as in they are already mentally unbalanced

I'd blame the parents for aggressive kids.

I think ANY and all violence CAN and ppl need ot understand that ;d, it's not just video games that may be a reason somoene does something violent or stupid.

I can tell you for sure, that if a young kid grows up with stuff like GTA, south park, he might not be violent in the sense of stealing cars and killing ppl lol, but he might repeat the kind of stuff he hears from those things.. alot, but that kinda stuff isn't meant for kids now is it, just like pretty much all violence, its not the games fault, that would be the parents. It's like if a kid plays with matches and becomes a pyro, and starts burning things lol, is it the matches fault for being flammable? o.o lol, ppl control the games and ecide just what exactly to do.

Meh >.> violence in video games is fine I say.

Yes and no if some child is alowed to see a violent movie ..can the child think is ok to do it .. is same thing if you see a video of someone who jump over building or whatever and you want to try it LOL
But well parents must explain to the child is only a movie and is not real thing what they do in the movie ..

Some kid was on the news and it was because he shot himself with a rifle, apparently Everquest drove him to suicide.

Bastard people always blaming it on the games.

Exactly what I was thinking!

Don't worry, sending a couple thousand troops to Iraq is sure to fix the problem.

Indeed! The couple thousand is much better then the 30,000,000 the Russians sent to their goulags to die!

Oh yes, you see, because the US is the best country in the world.

1k(us) >30million.(rus)

I've been taught in school that fighting for our country(US) is the greatest honor I'll ever achieve in my life.(I'm enrolled in the Jrotc program.)

People don't have anything to blame so they blame it on video games....

Here in South Florida, to go to the main campus, and not go to the portable-infested Annex, you MUST join the Jrotc program. If you read the wiki it's got some "fun-"facts"" about the program. Mainly all they do is 1)teach you how to turn off your brain. 2)teach you how to follow commands WITHOUT the use of your brain. 3)provide a new brain layout for you.(This brain could be compared to Windows Classic)

What bothers me is that the Jrotc teachers have NO teaching experience...

"There are no national requirements that JROTC instructors have the teaching credential required by other teachers in public high school."

*sigh*

The programs reminds me of "Hitler's Youth". :(

Sure, you CHOOSE to join.

I hate every second of that class.

Notice the use of the word "hate".

Today I walked into the class, and I shouted "Charlie company...ATTENNNNTTIIIION!"
And my teacher ACTUALLY saluted me...then 3 secs later he noticed I wasn't the Sergeant mayor -_-

I feel like I'm participating in a modern, modified, "Hitler's Youth".

...

"Bush's Youth". I would NOT like to see how THAT turns out. =/

No more than any other source of violence that people encounter in their lives.

I agree with DJ but i do think that the violence in video games desensitizes ppl more than violence in other media forms except for maybe the "news". When your watching a movie your watching someone elses creation same as on TV or online at some site. But when your playing a video game you personally buy it and experience. The best part about video games is the lvl of control you have so while your not actually curb-stomping someone in Gears of War your actually making the choice to curb-stomp and then you enjoy watching it.

As video games have evolved the amount of choices and the realism of the graphics have come to play an important role in the action. While in a comical game like Sly Fox a cartoony world makes stealing sound fun but if you play Thief the realism of the offers a whole different lvl of intensity, drawing you further into the world and cause the player to relate more with the character and the actions you perform. This relation you form with the character develops until your actions in game represent your personality in life. If you choose sneak around an enemy rather than face them head on thats a reflection of yourself. The same can be said where you choose to Blow someones head off with a shotgun rather then shoot them in the chest and be done with it.

So IMO violence in video games doesn't make monsters out of ppl but it does encourage it and can cause desensitize ppl to the violence around them. Instead of driving past a horrible car crash you may find yourself looking intently at the mangled bodies thinking "thats just what it looks like GoW". But various other lvls of encouragement towards violence exist in all forms of media with the most dangerous being like i said news stations and networks.

Good point.

I tend to stick to BBC news and RDI.

I was flipping channels when that Japanese (I believe) plane thing happened. On CNN they were saying how it was a miracle all those people got off before the plane lit up, and how they don't understand how it happened. They were covering it for the past hours and were dramatising...

I go up two channels to BBC news, they had a quick 2 minute segment on it explaining how the plane lit up only after passengers were offloaded and no one was put into danger, etc.
