Yeah, lately, mainly the last 2 or so weeks, i have frankly been feeling terrible.

I have tried the usual remedies, relaxing, music, friends, finding the route of problems, rage therapy, alcohol. But so far nothing has been working for me.

So if anyone has anyway in particular in which they deal with this kind of stuff, that they would be willing to share to a guy in need then i would greatly appreciate it.

BTW please dont spam any "grow up emo" or "just cut your wrist" jokes. They are lame and immature and they are not funny, not in the slightest way. If you have the ignorance to stereotype someone who is depressed as emo, then you really dont belong in this thread.

Thanks to anyone who will reply.

im guessing you didnt try all those remedies in 2 weeks o.O

i think it depends on what the cause of your depression is. i mean, if something
bad happened you feel terrible about, you could talk about it with either
someone close to you, someone you trust. i've never been really depressed,
but i have a couple of friends who have, and having someone to talk to helps a lot.
if your depression is of a different cause (maybe you are a bit sick; there are
certain illnesses that make you a bit lifeless and depressed; like you dont
feel like doing anything), then perhaps you should go to a doctor to talk about it.
so basically, what im saying, is talk about whatever is going on or whatever
could be the cause of your depression.

^ just suggestions, peoples. im no dr. phill.

age? If you're in your teens your mood and feelings will swing because of hormonal changes. Contrary to popular belief. this doesn't last for a week when you're 13; in different intensities, it will affect all boys in their teens at all times.

I have literally tried everything i mentioned. At the 2 replies, i have tried that, extensively. The route of my problem is the nothingness that is life. Everyday, we all follow the same routine, we all just live for the sake of it. We grow up, we die. Coming from a strong atheist background, living for god or any other form or religion is out of the question.

If anyone has read Rosencrantz and Guildstern are dead (or possibly waiting for godard, though i haven't seen it myself just examined a few of the themes ), you will understand were i am coming from. Life is literally pointless, our life has just occurred form random chance and we are all fated to die.

My mindset on life has become a matter of time. My life is just a countdown till the day i die. Everyday is bringing more and more misery. I am just acting my role, slowly waiting for the finale so the curtains can close.

I once had a purpose in life, but its gone. After a far while of suicide contemplations, i found meaning in life. But its all gone. I have realized it was only my naive mind trying to find some sort of destination, which i can now see dosn't exist.

As you can take from this, talking to someone close hasn't helped. No one knows what to say. I know no one can tell me how i should live my life, or in this cause why. But all i ask is for some kind of relief from this. If only it is for a week, thats alot more than i have right now.

EDIT: Age = 17, nearly 18.

im guessing you're done studying and stuff since you are sick of life being
a drag;

There's a lot of freedom in where you're at, you just can't see it.

I would look at Buddhism. It is an atheistic religion, so it won't conflict with your background. Buddhism acknowledges everything you are saying and I think it will help you find a context for your feelings.

Darn, you read my mind.

Taking more interest in something you like or finding something new to do would probably be a good place to start.
Even a change of location or meeting new people might kick some liveliness into you.

If nothing works don't go making a mess for someone.

Even though you said that talking to people hasn't helped, I still feel that you should at least try to talk to someone about it.

I really don't know if there is anything I can say that you haven't heard, but reading this reminded me of a piece of advice I was given some time ago:

"Change what you can.
The rest? F**k it."

By which I mean that you shouldn't worry about that which you can't control(in this case, death.)

Death is inevitable, that is a fact. Until then, the only thing we can do is make the most out of life. That was the conclusion I came to about it.

You said that you lost your purpose in life. What you should do, then, is try to find another purpose. As some others have suggested, go to new places, meet new people, try different things. Break up the monotony of life.

The same goes for me.

I hope that things work out for you.

+1
That will help A LOT because you're letting your feelings out instead of keeping things to yourself and slowly falling into hole. I think you should go out and find new things to do and find new people to meet. I hope everything works out for you

Yeah if you need someone to talk about it, you can talk with me about it if you feel like it.
Man, ive been going through a lot of phases these last years..some tend to last couple days, others couple months..Everything's a part of a proccess we go through at this age 13-17++, dunno exactly. It suks indeed, but we have to go through it in order to grow up :)
Imho, if i was you id try to find stuff to distract myself, only time will fully heal that.
Hope this helped in any way :)

VERSE 1:
Here's a little song Top Jimmy wrote,
you might want to sing it note for note.
Don't worry, be happy.
VERSE 2:
I know you think this is probably stupid,
but I had nothing better to do on a Monday night.
Don't worry, be happy.
Don't worry be happy now.
CHORUS 1:
Don't worry, be happy.
Don't worry be happy now.
Don't worry, be happy.
That's what Top Jimmy says.
VERSE 3:
You say you want to play the guitar,
but there's a chance you won't go far.
Don't worry, be happy.
VERSE 4:
And when you're jammin' to your favorite song,
you think to yourself that you're playin' it wrong.
Don't worry, be happy.
Don't worry be happy now!
CHORUS 2:
Don't worry, be happy.
Don't worry be happy now.
Don't worry, be happy.
Now here's Top Jimmy jammin'.
[James Limborg's rock guitar solo]
Here we go.
CHORUS 3:
Don't worry, just be happy.
Don't worry be happy now.
Don't worry. Don't do it! Just be happy.
Don't worry be happy now.
VERSE 5:
I guess it's time to end this song,
because I might be singing it wrong,
but don't worry, just BE happy!
Bye Bye now.

:)

people to talk to are good but you need something that makes you feel happy (food, drugs and booze dont count) songs, friends, happy enviroment you get the idea but songs like the one i liked to will put a smile on your face but it wont cure your problems just make you smile and feel better for a lil while

Thnx to all who have replied. It means alot, truly. Especially since i dont know any of you people.

I have always been interested in Buddhism. I have always seen it as a way of living as opposed to a religion, which is what i have been looking for. The only problem is i know nothing about it and where to access information. Like sure the interment is a start, but i live in a little urban town. We dont have any sort of Buddhist "places" around here nor do i know any Buddhist in real life. So if i can find someone to talk to about it in person, then maybe it will help me out a fair bit.

I have tired it, numerous times. I have tried talking to my closest of mates, no results have come from it. I have contemplated going to see a doctor but that would only mean i have let life win and i am too stubborn to let that be the case.

I must admit it gave me a slight chuckle, but the concepts are to simplistic for me. I can not simply just not worry, thats not who i am and i dont function that way. But thnx for the chuckle :P

I might do so. I have noticed the way you talk on these forums and i have developed quite a bit of respect for you. But as i have said before, talking hasnt really fixed anything so far, so i aint sure as of yet. We will see in the next few days if i take you up on your offer.

Once again thnx to anyone who replied and strayed away from obvious flames and insults, i appreciate it.

Raison d'être- the reason of your existence.

losing your Raison d'être can be devastating i'd lost mine once and wandered around for 2 years aimlessly wasting valuable time thinking about what could've been where i went wrong and generally giving up on life. I to am a strong atheist so there was no god to turn to for me i think its a test of some kind. Since we don't have faith in external forces we must rely on internal forces to propel and navigate our lives. Just like christians fall into times of crisis and rely heavily on the lord to bring them through it Atheist will fall on times of crisis and must bring themselves through it. Both are a testament of our beliefs and those who lack faith are lead astray and wander aimlessly in both examples.

If you want to fix it your going to have to find a new one though and you can't find that by looking to your religion or your friends or your family. You'll have to take a back and really look at yourself until you've decided where you were, what your doing, and where you want to be and how you can get there. I think after closely examining all these things you should be able to find a new Raison d'être even if its just not to die alone.

Good luck with that....
