I'm actually glad you brought this thread back up, I just recently got the time to finally try this decently, and it's been alot of fun so far, I've just been messing around with the weekly heroes, most of the games go pretty good, I think my best was something like 12-2...
But well I have some experience in HoN so it's just a matter of learning all the heroes and possible situations, doing pretty good tho.
If anyone wants to add me, LunaTicTac is the name.

Yesterday i only played 5 matches in the entire day, you know why? Because they all lasted over and HOUR I mean it's nice to have those kind of good matches once in a while but yesterday was annoying. We even made a comeback twice and we were losing badly

--- Oups my bad, though it was the HoN thread lol --- Please don't take this as a flame, but just wanted to say HoN is really succesful post-retail 65k players on average. 80k player who had pre-purchased before retail. They also managed to get a 40,000$ Tournament hosted by GosuGamers and SteelSeries \ But I'm guessing LoL is also successful, micro-transactions can bring lots of monies. Long live both games?

HoN averages 25k-30k players - half of beta - daily since it's release, LoL had over 1 million downloads about 4 months ago. Long live both games, indeed.

Well HoN reached the 65k peak last weekend apparently, too bad I woudnt know I'd be interested on the number of active LoL accounts tbh (Because downloads dosn't really mean anything)

As you win more you'll gain Elo and the MM will readjust the match to find opponents of appropriate skill level that will give you a challenge or at least keep you entertained. You leave newbie Island by stomping or reaching level 13, whichever one comes first. As for players online, the game frequently has downtime on weekends due to server overload. Riot usually has to throttle log ins on weekends or restart the servers on Friday to prepare for the inevitable overload. LoL also has more hours on XFire, is searched more on google, and gets more traffic according to Alexa. Just sayin'

What will actually happen once you leave newbie island is you will still be matched against complete nubs, but only 45% of the time. Another 45% the complete nubs will be on your team and the other team will be very well coordinated. Then there's the 10% where the games are entertaining.

Just sayin' Using XFire as a way to judge the number of players playing a game is kinda ridiculous(I'm sure you know it.Oh and lets not forget anyone could play LoL since <insert date> where only players with a key could play HoN until April 1rst. If we go by xFire statistics then it's pretty pathethic LoL gets only 10k average per day. As for Google, similar argument as above. The game was more known because it was fully released way before HoN. And I don't know what is Alexa so won't say anything

In regards to Newbie Island, before the April 27th Update you went up against terribad level thirties once you left newbie Island. A lot of players, the terribad level thirties & pro low levels, were complaining and calling every match that didn't have people of the same summoner level a MM fail. So, Riot made MM take level into account. The Irony? Sometimes, if you're smurfing, you still bump into thirties. That should tell you about their situation. As for Xfire, gizoogle, and alexa. The lead programmer, Zileas, likes to brag about how they have more users that their competitors. He only counts other MOBAs as competitors. ATM, LoL's only competition is DoTA and HoN so it's sort of easy to make that claim. Also, HoN JUST came out so it's a little early for Riot to be bragging about numbers. Anyhoos, I will be buying HoN one of these days. Might as well play both.

And how the hell do I deny (if i can) in this game? newbie island per say is a pool of other awful new players you will be playing with at first. runes are slots/pieces of a book/system all players posses that slightly affect your champion. ex: 5 runes slots, you add +1 dmg to each, your champion has 5 more dmg ingame. you can't deny ( if some1 mentions plank I'll >.< )
