I have always enjoyed my history classes, and we just covered the Fall of Rome last friday.
Here's what I learned about the most deserted city in the game.
Ok, so during the Roman Empire a new religion formed. This Religion was christianity . The Romans generally let people worship whatever they want, so long as they honor the Roman gods. The Christians weren't cool with this, as they were monotheistic. Christians became scapegoats for mistakes made by the government and the general public, and they were blamed for the Great Fire of Rome. Christianity was was founded by Jesus, and the Romans then wanted to go after him.
Judas tipped off the Roman police, and Jesus was then crucified. Christians were strenghtened by the idea of someone so super-awesome that he died for the good of each one of his followers, that the religion continued to grow. Eventually, the emperor Constantine passed the Edict of Milan. This allowed freedom of worship. He encouraged people to join Christianity, and built the second capital of Rome, Constantinople.

Between now and then, Constantinople has been the imperial capital of the Roman Empire, East Roman Empire, Latin Empire, and the Ottoman Empire. The city itself was founded by the almighty Roman Empire - Constantine I on the grounds of which is formally known as Byzantium or Byzantine. The city was captured by the Ottoman Turks in 1453. There's plenty of amazing history behind this city. You can learn so much about ancient architecture, religion, Gods and Godesses, Emperors etc. Good to see they teach interesting things in Ancient History.

If all you have to say is kthxbai, go to 4chan. Anyway, one of the main reasons I typed that was to make sure I knew what was going on, as I have a test on Tuesday. I certainly find it to be an interesting story, but if you want a much deeper one, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constantinople#History will tell you more.

Not to forget about the City right now.
Constaintinople, now Instanbul, is one of the biggest megacities in the world.
It's population (including the outer area's of the city) is being estimated somewhere between the 14 and the 16 million people.

Some of the key oasis towns were Niya and Yarkand.

Did you guys notice the two towers on the Temple's both sides in Constantinople? That is incorrect, because our CN on SRO is the capital of Byzant Empire (earlier East-Roman Empire) and the center of Greek Catholic/Orthodox religion. Those towers (minarets) were built in the XVI. century after Turks occupied the town and started to call it Istanbul. The temple is Hagia Sofia a Christian church which was turned into a Mosque in the XVI. century also. Attachment:

The other mistake I found is the Crescent on the top of Hagia Sofia, it's impossible because it was a Christian temple at that age. Attachment:
