When I played I went bard, because my buddies went other subclasses. I actually ended up doing good against str during 80/90 cap aside from any pure ints or snow shield. We were also a godly group up until we got bored of reverse res from the other players.
I had bard farmed though. None of the magical attacks though. Along with axes farmed. Had immunity whenever someone became a **** and used ice. 100 cap it just became silly and I got bored playing.
Go cleric or warlock. I'm not sure how warlock works now.

Cleric: Very good, you can heal yourself/pt members, bless, buff etc. Good build for partying, pvp, fw.
Warlock: This sub is good for soloing (you can debuff pt mobs), and 1 vs 1 pvp. Not so good as cleric in group pvp because you cant ress if your whole pt is dead.
Bard: Waste of sp, good for soloing because of speed, but you can buy speed pots. And Noise is useless (you are pure str). Doesnt work in pvp.
Mostly everyone is cleric. Pointless to go cleric if you have a group of buddies.
Warlock is godly if no one else in the group is warlock. Not being able to res isn't a big deal when you have a bunch of other people playing cleric.
Bard is sorta a waste of sp. You give speed to everyone and offer a tambour. Those tambours and dances are a godly defense. Problem is as a pure str you need to have mp/int near max and have the MP giving skill. You're also nearly worthless aside from that and small overheal damage.
