Haven't touched SRO in over two years. I quit simply because I couldn't play due to bots filling the server to its max capacity.

I've been reminiscing about playing lately as SRO has always been my best MMORPG experience. I'm aware the game still is having major issues like broken trade system and dead market. However I've been checking rev6 around the clock and the servers appear to be a LOT more open than I remember them from 2008-2010.

So if getting a player spot was my biggest issue with official SRO, maybe I should get back into it? If not, give me reasons why I should choose Silkroad Salvation or another private server over official client (I already don't like the 5x experience rate). Oh, also if you were to recommend Salvation, how big is the player base?

its not that bad lol players in this forum are too concerned with the next guy and the fairness of the game. mad that one player achieved greatness because he cheated. oblivious to the fact that there is no honor in a game and no matter how much you pout your lips the person that bots and has more money will always be above you. the sooner you realize that fact, and the sooner you dont care the funner the game will be.

i personally play with my friends and my cousins from real life and we play it for fun. i dont care that a turkish kid botted up to 120 or that he spent 500 dollars to get 120 on 8 diff chars. to each his own...

do yourself a favor dont buy into that "look what hes doing" mentality its extremely childish.

Great to hear your enjoying official SRO Juelz. I am defiantly leaning towards starting up in official again. However I feel like the forum overall prefers private, no? You mentioned that I shouldn't follow the majority, but at the end of the day aren't the privates going to have more active players? This is just the vibe I have been getting by lurking for the last hour on here.

I just started playing again on Maya.... addicted once again, just hit 27 before maintence started :P

I don't like private servers... there too easy and no point.... just like there is no point in botting. Go official and have a blast... don't worry about other people.

I don't think it could be summed up any better, bravo!

i tried private, i didnt like it honestly. has no real sustinence to it, the server can close any day (not to say isro cant but i figure a company like that has far more survivability than a 12 yr old's computer). i feel like there are wayyyy more english speaking players now a days than before. you'll be fine on isro.. make ur first char and dont worry about farming too much. u can farm at 100 then at 105

5x xp on a 70 cap server isn't bad, you can cap in about a week. Just take your time if you get on a private server.

What I like and what you like may be two different things. I like the NO BOTS taking up space or ks'ing you or being a pain. That said, there are legits who like to KS or murder, and that's gonna be true anywhere you go in SRO.

I like BA and grinding for stones and selling. You can do trade runs if you don't feel like doing BA. For example, a 5* in Salvation from Jangan to Niya trader gets you about 10 million.

So, trading/hunting/thieving are more active than on iSRO, period. There is no CTF, no campfest, but there are events occasionally and active GM's.

Downsides are obvious: It's a pserver, all of them run the risk of being sued by JM or w/e. There are only two GM's and both work, so there may be times when they're not available. They are still much more available than ANY GM on iSRO.

Stones, drops, and gold are slightly higher. Alchemy is pretty much the same as iSRO. You won't see anyone with a +12 or +15 full blued set any time soon.

Forgotten World instance was revamped for Salvation. It's one helluva challenge now and your options are to invis it to first box, or get in a full 8 man party. very good sp/xp.

You can pretty much level with a 2-3 gap and then farm a little bit in guards or gens parties. Mobs are moved around quite a bit and there are no Euro areas as the players were getting too spread out. So Jangan and Hotan are the two major cities.

For more info, just head over to the salvation site, http://silkroadsalvation.com.

I don't have a ton of pserver experience but I like Salvation a little better than Redster and ecsro. Mainly, getting in a good group of people is what you should aim for. Whether that's on isro or a pserver is up to you.

Have fun.

Well really after 80-90 cap sro is basically the same repeat over and over..leveling is a little easier now due to quests but they only really last you till 50. And most ppl get powerlvled all the way anyways.

Basically a pserver would be a better choice. There sro salvation which is a pretty nice community i believe theres mainly 3 large unions and then some smaller ones and indie guilds.
Theres a HELL lot more jobbing. Since the lvl cap is not that high the difference isnt that much, theres 2 main cities but you can also job through niya/bandit den ofc (bargain goods is basically on all day)
Its a little more BA-centered than id like but if you use some nice tactics in BA it usually works to your advantage

Agh I'm so torn now. Well starting up a character in Salvation right now, I don't know if I'll get that same satisfaction I did from getting to 53 on iSRO. But in the end I could see how Salvation would have better end game.

How big is the player base? How many users would you say are online during regular hours?

Hah, wish this was facebook so I could like this over and over again. Totally agree Juelz.

SRO is just alright, It's not great like it was at 60 cap, it can get kinda lonely grinding at low lvls, but it's a lot better without the server traffic. Also, there's a p2p server which I was considering logging into.. less gold bots and people having their own pt of 8.. etc. I'll wait to see where the server goes b4 I really get into it.

If you want to log in Athens I could help ya out a bit.

Exactly not sure, but put it this way. If you're logging on from the US or Euro timezones you'll always find a party, or if you make one and yell out, it'll get filled quickly and that is even if you're not in an active guild w/e.

By joining you make it more fun for us too xD More people more fun.

I could never go back to isro after playing on a private server.

100-200 depending on timezone, there are quite a few Euro players and quite a few US players.
