i see a lot of people saying plvled people/botters dont know how to pvp... why is that?
i mean i play on a rogue mainly (have a chinese nuker and warlock too) but from what i can tell everyone pvps the same way... hit them with largest skills and hit the next skill that isnt on cooldown...
just dont understand what people mean by planning your attack... eveyrone uses like 5 or 6 skills and repeat :S not much of a plan
bladers will kd or chain, galvie uses soul (forget other name), bows will use kb then devil or strong, warriors will at once point or another use sprint then maddening/berserk, rogues use prick or long shot, wizards will do whatever and run, warlocks will annoy you and end up standing over you, clerics will bless and offering, bards not sure since i havent pvp one yet
it isnt like knowing that bladers will kd almost every other turn is going ot make me fight different... if i get kd i just get kd, i cant block it really unless i use xbow and kd/kb back

The timing is the most important, for example a bower should do kb attack when a nuker wants to nuke. A sword/blade user should try to get a status like division on the enemy first, then use knockdown etc. A heuksal user should use Ghost spear series when he thinks an enemy is on low hp and can finish him off. That kinda timings.

1v1 cape PvP is fall fine and dandy, but then you need to put it into guild wars, job wars and fortress war situations.
First thing you need to do is know your strengths. Know who you can one hit. Then you need to prioritise. See who's the biggest threat, take them out; make sure to cover your Ints. Then repeat while moving around a lot and communicating.
It's the fact that most plevelled or botted characters don't know how to work in a team, and don't understand their role in a party. The knowledge can be the difference between victory and defeat.

hehe, you allready stated something in youre own post. You could use xbow against bladers to stop them knocking down.
But I can basically only speak for bowers, as it is the one build I pvp with. A bower that uses knockback arrow all the time just got it, or doenst know how to pvp. I was fighting a fully farmed bower, that could kill me but thanks to him using knockback all the time I could tank him. Knockback is a fast launching attack that doenst really dish out any damage, so you basically only use it when you either want to tank or want to stop youre opponent from doing something. I use it on wizards/rogues I can detect in stealth to kill them or stop them in there tracks.
There is some logic in the way people use there skills, just totally depends on wich build you are and wich build youre fighting.

Hehe idd...I'm always spamming SSE/SSS on my friends char (since today I will put a windless spear inbetween sometimes (on stun mostly)) and when I think I can finish them or I think I'm about to crit, I GSM.. You cant do much more as a glaive build, sure I can use combo's etc but I rather go for higher and faster dmg hehe.

hm maybe i played on xbow too much... i mean there isnt much of a choice of attacks so i rarely plan things out lol, long shot, kb, kd, kd, long shot but in groups (jobbing) i can do fine most of time unless i run into people 10 over me... i take out the ints first then any str left i run away and let the other hunters kill them hm i guess timing is important, i dont have a high chinese char and euro chars are limited in number of skills they can use anyways maybe since i party a lot i dont see much difference between that and pvping except if it is 1 on 1 i dont stand aroud after kill :S edit: HertogJan i did say i could kb/kd back... except out of all 8 of rogue's skills 6 of them are good to use (2 are 51%) and of the 6, 4 of them do kb/kd... so when i say kb/kd back i meant i really dont have a choice lol since in 3 attacks, 2 of them will by default be kb/kd unless i stand there for 6 seconds

Cape fighting holds no real benefit for me, playing a wizard. I judge my PvP abilities strictly by jobbing.

wait, is 1st book the skills in 1st row? i dont know what you mean by books Books are the skills within the series. So the 1st series of bicheon is the Stab n' Smash series and its simply a nice connection between the chains, but IMHO i dont find it necessary to spend 1000's of SP for it. There are other series' that contains certain books that you don't need. For example, for Pure STR, you can plug sp to the 1st book of fire nuke just for the hell of it, but don't spend sp on getting it to lvl 9 for the sake of the 3rd book, because the 3rd book requires 1st book maxed. AND, your pure str. get me?

With xbow, I usually start off by trying to KD. If that works, I put on CE and use intense shot and power shot, then long shot if neccessary. If it doesnt KD, then I use my KB skills and try to KD again. Oh, and I do a little jog if i have to...

this is wut I call berzerk mode Me too, but I don't listen to music while playing so it's my own made up song. It usually goes something like this...."I AM PLAAAAYYYINNGG SILLLKKKRROOOADD ONLLINEEEEEEEEEEE MOM! THE MEATLOAF!" to the tune of Pachebel's Cannon in D.

Some players know what they're doing, using the right skills at the right moment. Others just randomly bash whatever skill that isnt in cooldown.

With a wizard i just buff swing march and life turnover, go invisible and 1 shot someone.. with a glaiver i sse+sss until i get a crit with that then just mars and repeat if needed, with a blader lightning and stone smash and when the cooldown on that is too far away i kd+stab, with a spear nuker i put on snow shield, nuke then sse+mars, with a s/s nuker i try to put some status, kd+stab, sometimes nuke, with a bower i use devil arrow+strong bow craft+2 anti devil bows and knockback in case the opponent crits etc etc etc etc.

The goal of a good PvPer is to disrupt your skills by any means possible, while keeping in mind dps. In the beginning, when people first started to PvP, I doubt they were all using the 2-3 skills they use now. They saw someone do it and win every time. Now you don't have to think about it. People pretty much created the steps to PvP for you and you just follow the procedure and hope to win. That's hardly the fun of PvP.
As a wizard, my main goal is to avoid being hit. Since my disrupt skills are fear and charged winds, I tend to use those a lot even if they do little or no dmg. You will notice that good rogues only use long shot every once in a while, because they are trying to KD and KB you before you get to them, so they can make an opening for long shot. Same goes for warriors. A good PvP warrior will shield trash as often as possible to disrupt attacks, and they will use maddening only after they stun with sprint assault, as to not waste hp and get disrupted.
Being good at PvP is less meaningful with SRO's pot and 1 hit kill problems, but in games like WoW and Lineage 2...or most other games really, you can win even when you are disadvantaged by using great strategy and timing.
PS: People in Greece are pretty bad at PvP, and you wouldn't see any sense of real strategy from most of them there.

Er yeah to be honest SRO really doesn't take that much PvP skill when compared to WoW, so it's really a lot about gears. Where there IS pvp skill, however, it's all about A)Knowing what your strengths and weaknesses are, based on your build and set. B)Knowing what your skills do. Do they do a lot of damage? Is it over time or at once? Can they interrupt the enemy? Can they slow them down in some way? C)Knowing the cast time. This is a biggie that a lot of guys, legits and bots, seem to miss. A long cast time move can't really be countered by a long cast time move that interrupts, but it can be countered by a short cast time move that interrupts. Hope this helps. But really, button mashers do pretty well. Sadly.

If you're sayin that plvling reduces pvp capibility then I would disagree.
Its true that timing, knowing your damage, role etc are important in pvps like cape fights, guild war, jobbing.
But one thing I have to say is Pvp relies on "on-job" experience. Because more often than not the skills you use when grinding are quite different from the ones you use when pvping. The strategies applied are different as well! When you grind, you're facing "skill-less" mobs that dont have any intelligence to counter-attack you, they just bluntly attack you, thats all.
However, if a plvled guy always pvps (like his sro life = plvl or pvp), then he makes an experienced pvper. From experience he knows his damage, strengths, weaknesses, strategies and role even in a party fight.
For eg. an archer uses these skills when grinding: Mind Bow(split arrows) to lure lotsa melee mobs to him. Then followed with... Berserker arrow(AOE skill with increased attack rating) to deal damage to the pool of mobs. Followed up with autumn-wind to deal damage to more than 1 mob.
Repeat cycle. Maybe in like 5 seconds he can finish killing all 3 mobs at the same time. Great efficieny for grinding isnt it ? But think about it, are these skills killing skills for pvp? I dont think so, most likely the killing skills for archers are Anti-Devil, StrongBow. Interrupt skills like 5 arrow relay combo arent used alot while grinding, simply because theres no point when you got a warrior tanker and all you need to do is shoot at the back.
2 cents worth ><

Posted this back at the 70 cap, about a year ago or so. Quote: [Just a quick comment on 'skill'. In this game, I hear people say that they 'pawn' because of their 'skill.' Common guys... I've been playing since alpha as well, and skill is a bullshit thing to mention in this game. Knowing when to run, when to fight, when to vigor, judging how much hp your enemy has left ,and to use certain skills is not much skill... It takes little time to understand what to do. If you don't know how to play your character by the time you hit 70 you are simply retarded. cs1.6 is what takes skill, guild wars takes skill [in the sense of teamwork], WoW takes some skill, sro is just understanding of the game's mechanics.]
