I have a theif costume a merchant flag and I have no idea what to be can someone please shed some light give me some ideas :]

Wrong section.
But you can be both anytime. it's not like if you started thief you can't go trading as trader..
also thieving at low levels is kinda stupid.. everyone around you is higher level than you.
you can't pop 1*'s also because your NPC is weak..

Deadly is right.. keep lvling~!! until at least lvl 40s and start popping around Jangan area rather than the ferries.. too many high lvls there that will own you~!
