I was hoping someone could give me a little advice on Murderer Status.
I was on a quest last night and in the middle of fighting a mob I noticed a wolf with a red name taking a bite at me. I looked for the owner who's name was also red. I ignored it and carried on fighting and moved on to the next mob. Same thing happened with same wolf attacking me while the owner stood and watched.
Every time the wolf attacked me the name went red, then shortly after stopping the name went back to white. This guy just followed me around, not attacking anything else (Mob or player), but just sending his wolf in for a quick snack.
I didn't fight back as I was concerned about getting my own status set to Murderer.
If I had attacked while his name was red, would I be safe from getting Murderer status? My other concern was that by the time I attacked back his name may have gone white and I would have been in trouble!
I have no idea what his problem was, but I guess it is one of the below options:
1) He was just trying to annoy me;
2) He was trying to get me to attack back and become a murderer;
3) He thought I was a bot (considering he attacked about 6 times and I never attacked back he should have realised I wasn't!).
If this happens again, what is the best approach?
Thanks,

if their name is red, you can attack them. once engaged in the fight they will stay red. his name probably went back to white because he was either grinding it off by killing 1 or 2 monsters or he was letting time to wear it off. but once engaged on a fight with someone that has red name, if you kill them your name doesnt go red.

Thanks for the quick response and the info.
Hopefully it's not something I'll have to deal with too often, but at least I know where I stand.
Like I suggested, he may just have been bot-baiting, so I guess in future a quick PM to them would prevent any suspicion on their part.
Thanks again.

if they just attack u and not kill u, then their names would be pink, not red. that means if they stop attacking for awhile their names will go back to white. i would be cautious if i were you (when u attack a guy with pink name) because like u said u could get a murder status if u timed it wrong (it's pink when u start the attack but it turns back to white when ur attack actually hits)
i think he just thought u are a botter... so remember to yell back at him, or else it would just confirm u are a botter because more advanced botters do nothing when being attacked by a wolf or a player.

Hi and thanks for the info.
Now you come to mention it the name was more of a pink rather than the dark red i've seen on some players.
I didn't realise advanced bots could differentiate between mob attacks and player/pet attacks, so I will definitely make myself known in future!
I just thought initially that it was someone making a mistake or messing about. It wasn't until after I'd logged off that I thought more about it and realised he may have thought I was a bot.
I guess botting has a lot to answer for!!
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
