1* poping is when high level thieves spawn npc thieves and have those attack lower lvl traders doing 1* trade run. the npc thieves will normally kill the trader and the high level thief would then kill the npc thief and get the drop goods.
I think high lvl thieves can spawn npc thieves when they summon a tranport and pick u dropped goods (normally dropped by friends).
so if ur playing in old servers, be careful of ferries, bridges and roads, high lvls normally pop u there.
