Post subject: New player looking for a server/guild Posted: Mon May 21, 2007 7:57 pm |

Greetings,
as a veteran of many MMOs, and after a long break, I decided to look into SRO and give it a shot. After watching videos, reading guides, and talking to players, it most certainly seems like a game I would enjoy in the long term.
I've done searches on recommended servers, but I still had a few questions.
First, would I be better off waiting for the new servers to come out? (Granted, if it's going to be awhile, I would much rather start playing now than wait).
Second, are there any established, mature and decently sized guilds out there, that would be interested in taking on a new player? =P One of the things I look for most in these games is a community of like-minded players who focus on achievement, cooperation, and not least of all, a good time. =) (The love of pvp is always nice too).
Any comments or suggestions are appreciated, thanks.
NOTE: After looking at builds, new skills, and videos, I'm debating between a str bower or glavie, should that make a difference.

start playing now and get to know the game. when the new servers come out you can always switch.

try the guild section of this forum. each server has one.

I think it would be best to join a new server. When i first started i decided to play on the newest server (at the time Greece) and it seemed to work out well because i was able to learn much of the game and not be at a total disadvantage level wise, not to mention jobbing is easier when a server is fresh than on an older server where theres plenty of capped players already. Wouldn't be too bad to play on an older server as well. Well if you decide to play on greece you could join one of our guilds in the union. Theyre listed in our recruitment thread here http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=34014 however most of these guilds have a level requirement, which varies from guild to guild so you would have to wait to join in a guild, though one might make exception for you. Our union does a few small union trade runs or a big union trade run a week as well as other activities, not to mention we stress legitness (no botting, ccfing, gold buying, or other forms of cheating) which is pretty hard to find nowedays. Well if you havn't already read up the guides on this forum (which im assuming you have). This game on the outside might seem simple since you only have 2 stats but can get pretty complex for a beginner and i was confused when i first started.

TBH, Zeus is currently the best server. It has the best economy, with sos bows selling at about 4-5mill atm. With lvl 32 SOS swords selling at 8 mill rofl. (lovely price difference )
Highest lvl is around 70, but hell they're fast.
Zeus is newest, best, an i wud let u join my guild, as long as u play a lot

Thanks for the replies, appreciate it. =)
I've started on Zeus, and currently level 13. My only question is, as a new player, should one focus on sp farming at 16 (Keep in mind, I will not have a nice SoS weapon), or focus on leveling with a gap of 5 or so?
Thanks!

probably see the game first, you can farm a bit like 9 gap from lvl 16 to lvl 24, have enough sp and not get too bored with farming, and if u still feel like playing after say lvl 3x, then you can farm again at lvl 42. you will mess up some builds or try to figure out which one u prefer so sp farming with your first char is not a good idea.
my two cents worth

Thanks! One more question, with level gaps, does that mean I can have one mastery at a certain level, or all my masteries (that I choose) at that level.
~For example, at 16, have just one mastery at rank 7, or as many as I want?

as many as you want.
its all about the highest mastery level. so if you got some at 7 and
some at 2 and one at 3, then your highest mastery is still 7.

your first character focus on leveling, dont sp farm just yet, you will get money throughout the game (still keep a small gap 2~3) and then you can buy higher lvl sox weps, then farm, yeah it'll be slower but its more efficient than sp farming @ 16 w/o one shot

I disagree with that. If you ask me if you already have a good idea about what your build and a general idea on the game (which Najjynn has) you might as well do some farming at level 16 mostly because it will be the best time to do it (sos wep or not) and it will help through sp needs through the early levels so you dont get the urge to want to reroll because you missed the perfect chance to do.
I'd just get a bow for level 16 and farm however much you can (and how much farming you can stand before you get bored). In about a week w/ a normal bow you could make 10k sp at least assuming you dont use item mall items. You won't regret it.
