Converter for Avi to Gif

I have a sro movie (.avi format) and want to convert it to a small gif animation

u guys know a good program for that?
(i googled alot, i can convert my movies to gif but cant save the gif file because i dont have the full version :banghead:

)

gif is a picture file
avi is a movie file

what you do is take still frames from the avi and use them to make your own gif.

(yes this is one of my emails xD)

If you have Adobe Photoshop 7, it will come with Image Ready.
Import the .avi with image ready and select the part you want and
and it will import it. Then you can resize it down and/or save it as gif

I've photoshop CS3, i can do it with that but it takes ages to save the file

photoshop is pretty slow in saving animations
