Fire = deals max possible damage as far as imbue types are concerned, for a pure str (although practically there is little difference)
Light = the splash aoe damage help to drag more npc towards you, so useful as a hunter to drag npc thieves away from the trader you are guarding. The splash aoe damage also transmit stun/kb/kd effects, and are useful against player thieves that try to gang you (if you can tank them of course)
Ice = nukers would find this more useful, but as pure str char ice imbue is only useful against player jobbers that are not immune to it. As a guide, the higher lvl the opponent, the more likely they are immune to ice if chi chars. Euro enemies in a group with a cleric would be immune against ice too, so this is probably the least useful imbue for you to go jobbing with.
