I am currently a 5x hybrid S/S user with currently a 90% mag balance and only placing points into INT from now on. As of now, I wear protector but a few people have told me that I should make the switch to garments.

1) Should I switch from protector to garments?
If Yes go to 2. If no, go to 4:
2) Any particular reason why garments would be more useful to me than protector?
3)I am level 54 now. When should I make the transition?

4)Why should I stick to wearing protector over garments?
5)Will I have to make the switch eventually?

Thanks!

Well, I would take garment at the lvl when you plan to grind on the nachals in the DW cave, so you take less damage..

That would be D8, so your new degree will become garments

ok here is some benefits
garments provide better speed (less cumbersome)
better magic reinforcement

drawbacks less physical defence

i would start by shopping for d6 garments
why? because at d6 these items can be found pimped out already (more often)
of course if you find something d5 already at your lvl or just a bit higher with good stats and blues buy it if you have the cash

8) 8)

As a s/s nuker hybrid, i would say the opposite - stay on protectors. at least until you move to ROC where almost all the mobs have mag attack.
Yes, garment has some benefits. But i've tried grinding with garms and prot - and with prot i feel better, i die harder and i feel stronger when i PvP/job ecc.
For a nuker, i can resist more dmg in a fight, and i already have a high mag deff, so i don't need the garms so badly.
Ofcourse, that's my own opinion, i will be switching to garments too, only because soon, when i am full farmed i will make a lot of taxies for my friends. But i will keep my prot set because i prefer it for grinding and jobbing.
That's what i can say from my 86 lvl expirince in the game :)
Also, see that topic, it's about INT hybrids, but Razorhead says somethings about the prot/garms that could be useful for u viewtopic.php?f=29&t=99772
