 Post subject: n00bie question about SOS items

Could someone please explain to me why SOS items are "better" than non-SOS?

I found a level 16 SOS glaive with a crit of 11,
I had a level 16 glaive I was using with a crit of 10,

I couldn't find any difference between the two when equiped other than the SOS glowed purple for me. Damage range was the same, I didn't seem to get more damage or more crits. I bought the non-SOS for $16,500 and sold the SOS for $1,400,000.

I would just like to hear a real description of why SOS, SOM and SOSun are worth what everyone is asking for them.

Sorry if this was covered before in a previous post, the search feature isn't real friendly to me... LOL

Thanks

The differences are in the physical/magical attack power, physical/magical reinforce % and the attack rating. Surely an SOS weapon deals more damage than a white counterpart.

A SOx item has better stats the higher the lvl the more diff you notice in damage etc a lvl 16 sos glavie is equal to a normal lvl 21 so in other words you sold something you could have use to lvl 21 and now you are using a normal glavie which has to be changed in lvl 18 :roll:

O.o

What you should notice is that when u aqquire a SoX item they have increased stats that are equil to or around:

SoS= +5
SoM= +10
SoSun= +15

The PHY, MAG attk should be increased allong with most other stats... Crit is not effected..

You could have a SoSun + 11 with a crit 2.. or a SoS +1 with a crit 12 its random

Thanks guys, but to be honest, if there was any damage difference in the 2 it was negligible. Both had an attack rating of 68. And I figured that if they were that close in stats why not sell the SOS and put the money towards a level 20 glaive. In fact I found my next level 20 glaive for $100K with a rating of 82. So in this case I would think that selling off something similar to what I had for a lot and buying the next one for cheap that's so much better was the way to go. Now I do more damage and I netted 1.3 mill.

So, the higher level SOX stuff the more you notice the difference then, I get it.

Thanks for your time guys.

I think you should start looking out for stats other than attackrating and crit.

Especially when comparing weapons of different levels (or different +X / sos / som / sosun) because both crit and attack rating are not affected by this.

But:
Phy. Attack Power (the base damage of the weapon)
Phy. reinforce (how much does your str improve the damage)

are both increased with level of the weapon and they are very important for the damage you actually deal. Phy. Attack Power is increased by +'ing the Weapon, Phy. reinforce only goes up with actual weapon level.

(corrected, tnx to Thrill_Thrill)

Physical reinforce is not affected by the + actually. The only 2 stats that will change after a succesfull enchantment with an elixir on a weapon are the Phys. & Mag. attack power values. To change any of the other stats you will have to resort to the new alchemy.

Now go find a level 16 sword, and compare the damage to this one. Surely +4 enchantment doesn't make the damage double compared to a same leveled white weapon.

THATS what SoX does. Sure the white weapon you had wasn't +3-5 with some mid-high (40-80) %s for the phys and mag?

I guess if you'd only like to level and save-up on money you can sell your SOX item and just save the gold for later use :) but if you'll be SP farming... it's better to have an SOX weapon because you'll want to kill-off mobs same or lower lvl than you in a shorter time... and usually farmers do deleveling (and will be at a particular lvl for weeks) and it's an advantage that eventhough you're lvl16... with an SOS +3 weapon... you can deal damage as if you're lvl24 :D

That's actually a good comparison, finding a +4 weapon like that. Really shows just how much of a difference a SoX on an item makes.

But yeah, it's a sick sword alright :)
