a bot is a program that basically plays the game for you. most bots are pretty easy to distinguish from the rest, the same way a computer AI in a video game is easy to tell; it glitches, it never stops moving, it doesn't get pissed off if you steal their kills, often times it doesn't say anything, and othe little oddities here and there that you can notice if you pay enough attention. some botting programs are very simple, like script bots, but some are so advanced, it takes careful watching to spot them. the most obvious traits I know of them so far are getting stuck in walls for hours, and immediately switching targets if you start attacking their monster.

Yah sometimes their names are like "arfgd" or "ghsgfg", they sometimes also immediately target another mob if you start attacking their mob, and a lot of the times they dont use skills or imbues. You can also try inviting them to party and most of the bots ive come across refuse immediately after you send. But none of these signs mean 100% that the person is botting.

The 3 best ways to tell:

1) Talk to them and see if they respond (spam local chat, spam whispers, etc.). Even if they dont speak English, they should eventually type something like "?" or "<weird characters>".

2) If they do not respond, they might just be too concentrated on killing mobs, although that is usually not the case... :\ See how quickly they switch targets; most bots have a noticeable delay between the time a mob dies and the time they start running towards or attacking the next mob. Players that aren't talking back to you usually are so focused on grinding that they switch to the next target almost immediately. Players that are very focused are usually are constantly spinning the camera, looking for the next mob while they are killing their current target.

3) If all else fails and you're STILL not sure, KS them and see if they start to play differently or finally tell you to f*** off.

those are problem gold bots with those fjlsjefs names.

if u pay attention closely bots stall a lil between moves. dont go smooth like a real player fighting.

Hey, I use self heal all the time, and I didn't start using MP pots instead of resting until around level 15. It saves a good bit of money, especially for a pure int like me who gets the bare minimum hp recovery from pots.

Easiest way to see if someone is botting, when they are running somewhere,ie to their training place, they will run for about 5 seconds, then pause for a second, then continue. Im not sure why that happens, but thats how I tell.

Well well well isnt he smart.

Let me tell you about bots, most of the above remarks of all the other forum members are correct.
But there are different botting programs one more advanced than others but you can ALWAYS TELL

First look at certain shops in the city
all botters stand in line , human players come from different angles and therefore stand on other positions.
Look at the screen shot and notice the names !
All other players you see with names like fjhek, jfgehf etc etc they are all fake and botters.

Image

But some players also use botters on their Character, I once caught an advanced one that even answered chats, however he always answered the same thing and thus gave him self away

Image

an other advanced type of botters can be recognized by their name. On oasis they all start with OA_ for instance OA_endurance
These botters, when you KS them, invite you in a party to get the 10% extra exp points.

and if I really am not sure I always do an ice attack on them, I will be 4 seconds purple but what the heck
If they do not react they must be a botter because any other player, when attacked, would either walk away or say something.
If it is a botter who attacks back I switch of autopotion and let him kill me so he becomes a murderer.

The latest bots I have seen actually are using horses !!

Further more , when you see a lot of guys just like the first screenshot, all with about the same armor and weapon fighting monsters that are 5 levels to low for them in a certain area you can also safely asume they are bots.

SO MY BIG QUESTION TO SRO IS
IF I CAN SO EASILY IDENTIFY BOTS WHY CAN'T YOU?
ALL THEY NEED TO DO IS ONCE PER DAY GO TO THE CITY, LOOK AT ALL CHARS IN LINE WRITE DOWN THE NAMES AND BAN THEM ! :x
THIS WOULD TAKE LIKE 10 MINUTES
OF COURSE THEY WOULD NOT HAVE ALL ! BUT AT LEAST 20 PER DAY PER SERVER WITH 10 MINTUES OF WORK PER SERVER

HERE JUST ANOTHER SCREENSHOT WITH SOME OTHER BOTTERS

WELL HOPE TO HAVE BEEN OF HELP
CHEERS

ya, and banning them really help, because they cant do another botter for 10 days and thathelps if all of us report like 10 of them each day

Yeah... I think they line up to summon horses to go ride away to their grinding place.... firequeen and deskmel... those are kind of good screen names to be wasted on gold bots.
