Hi, i just got a new Dell laptop with vista and i noticed that the f1 f2 f3 etc keys are all used for volume control screen brightness etc.. and i have to press Fn + F1 to simply get the function of f1, surely this should be the other way around like on my last laptop f1 f2 f3 etc were f1 f2 f3 etc... and i was using Fn + f1 for things like mute or volume control. if anyone knows how to change the keys around so that i just simply have to press f1 or f2 etc to get the normal function without pressing fn please let me know thanks.

Check your Manual. Check for hardware configuration. Check for Keyboard.
Check your Keyboard Configuration in Vista. You can Re-assign.
If nothing works, read Online Documentation. Send an Email to the vendor, if necessary.
