I seem to be having a problem with some of the screenshots I take. Some come out fine, but some are just a blank and completely black. I don't do anything different that could cause this. Has anyone experienced this and got over it, or have any ideas? Yes my computer's specs are up to par, and I have the latest drivers and everything. This has been pretty annoying, the rare times something cools happens and I take a screenshot, only to find a black picture when I browse my pictures later on.
Ty for any help

i had this problem with another game, but not this one. i think it had something to do with a freaky compatibility issue with the vid card. either way, i normally take 2-3 screens every time i take one now, just in case. i never did figure it out, so i'm just more paranoid now, even though i got a different card.

I've recently started experiencing screenshot problems also. First of all, I alt+tab quite regularly. Before, this wasn't an issue, but recently the screen has started... I dunno... it's like it has some sort of 'memory' whereby when I alt+tab, I see in the background an image of Silkroad that happened maybe half an hour ago. And if I were to go back ingame and take a screenshot, the picture would end up looking like the half-hour-old version. Many a fantastic screenshot opportunity has been wasted, as I click away and then view the Screenshots folder hours later to find hundreds of the same meaningless image in there. :(

This behavour is very weird. If I alt+tab away from Silkroad and move around some windows, I can see the old image below the window, and anything above the top border is the actual happenings in Silkroad at that time, moving and everything. But that old image... it just doesn't go away.

And sometimes when alt+tabbing, the Silkroad screen goes into Uber Stretched Low Res mode, whereby most of my screen is taken up by my character HP/MP info in the top left corner, and it has all these scanlines through it and it's all very distorted... but miraculously, it's not a static image! It's actually the game with monsters moving around in the background in their little skewed-scanlined ways and everything. It's very freaky.

At the same time, all the text in my game has gone weird. It has sketchy lines above and below every character. The text is still very readable, however, there is definitely something wrong with it.

I can't think how this happened. I do believe it started after I installed a couple of programs... Spybot S&D, Acronis Disk Director... I did have major major HDD issues after installing Acronis. Perhaps this is related somehow.

Regardless, I'm running the latest GFX drivers and latest DirectX as of last week. So I'm stumped.

I had what you called "uber-stretched" mode once. I alt-tabbed away and opened another program which forced a resolution change. When I went back to Silkroad it did not change the resolution back to Silkroad-friendly resolution.

I had experienced this problem previously but that was due to an old graphics card running at 64mb video ram and with a disgusting 256mb ram. Changed to a more up to date graphics card and everything works out fine.

However, at work we do experience with problems such as this and upon contacting Microsoft, they could not give an answer as well, other than "it could be your graphics card, try taking more screenshots just to be safe".

So well, that's the answer I get from Microsoft when at work.

Well in my first post, I lied. I have a 64MB integrated graphics card, it still runs teh game perfectly though. I do have a decent 256 MB card, and a ram stick finally coming in the mail which shoudl get here sometime this week. It should make a big difference in everything, and it will hopefully fix that problem with the screenshots.

If you have an integrated graphics card AND a PCI express or AGP graphics card, you might want to try disabling the integrated graphics card or do so after you installed the new graphics card.

It might work to solve the problem. I did a couple of things, one of which included disabling the integrated graphics card. Everything works out fine. Give it a shot and let us know.

Which is why I said either or. :)

Anyway, yeah, do let us know. If it works, it might be a solution that can be offered to some.

I'll try to troubleshoot for you Moogie.

The weird images that you experienced as:

That problem arises due to applications that may be conflicting with each other. The only way to know which particular application is conflicting with Silkroad is to know when did this problem start occuring and what programmes have been installed prior to the start of this particular problem. I am not saying that the programme should be gotten rid of, but the background services that maybe running for that particular application should be turned off.

I have to check this with you. Is your desktop and Silkroad running on the same resolution? If it isn't, the conflict happens when Windows tries to reconfigure your resolution back to Silkroad's resolution and when it comes to a conflict, or fails, the above would happen.

I would dare say that all these 'conflicts' arise when there are too many Windows pre-loaded drivers, things that loaded upon Windows startup and some of these are pre-loaded from the registry. Sometimes the Services running in the background hog a lot of memory usage as well.

Unfortunately, if it is due to pre-loaded driver and pre-loaded registry values, uninstalling the programmes do not help because the registry values and keys are still intact. Unless you're technically inclined, I suggest you do not touch the registry at all.

Hell... I'm a Computer Engineering/Computer Science major, and I don't even touch my registry.

Sounds like when you prt scrn while using windows media player. The play area in the screenshot is a black square, and the part of that black square that overlaps the area of the screen also occupied by the actual playing area in windows media player, is transparent and you can see the media player itself. I have yet to figure out why it does that or how to fix it.
Sorry if this post was in no way related to your problem, was just pointing out a similar issue :)
