ok well here goes
firstly.. THIS IS NOT MY IDEA , credit goes to "Syllia" from the silkroadonline.net forums. ( original found in "blabla" section )
well this is what u have to do.
its simple, i even attempted and suceeded :D
found it, it worked for me and my mate, and we are both on different connections. so i thought id share it with you lot. enjoy if it works for you, pray it does. lol

here it is. >>>>>>>>>>>>

After 12 hours of slaving through various forums, I pieced together this solution.Worked for me at least

Start up Notepad, open the HOSTS file which is found in your C\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc directory and add the following line

80.15.232.4 nprotect.nefficient.com

it should look something like this

# Copyright c 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments such as these may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a # symbol.
#
# For example
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
80.15.232.4 nprotect.nefficient.com
<<<<<<<<<< that was the original content from silkroadonline.net forums.

ALSO! <<< at first i tryed to copy and paste "C\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc"
does not work, you will find the folder called C\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc, but you must open the first file in there ( was for me ) if not scan through all and you will find one exactly like the once shown above.

simple. it works, and now im fightign to get through the server trafic because i decided to share this one and dc'd manualy *rolls eyes, smacks forehead *

also try
Run Notepad
Go to FileOpen

C\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Which means you

Go to C Drive WINDOWS folder system32 folder drivers folder etc folder, worked that way for my friend but did not for me.

Right, thanks man. It works for me too. The problem is connecting to the gameguard server. Thanks :)

FBIRem,

I'm really out of ideas now... can't think of anything else either. I'm quite sure the problem lies with the connection to GG server but that's for me...

i tryed everythign untill this one worked, worked for you kard? wicked :D feels good to help lol....

FBIrem easy solution would be go on some lame hackign site like gamerzplanet.. their famous for it.
im not saying you should hack but they are very good with these sort of problames.. face it they code stuff all the time. why not use it for good? :D lol seriously they might know what to do tough, or OCAU.. all these forums would gladly help you if you jsut explain wtf is goign on lol, then again they may not, but it couldnt hurt could it?

woo u hear that kard? we heros 8)
realised soemthing else
you may want to deleate that old line... lol should have mentioned that, and if you installed a new nprotect gard in hopes that it will change things, make sure you deleate either the new one or the old one, found that both just dont work..

Here is the analysis.

Gameguard gave an error because, if you noticed, it tries to connect and it doesn't. That is followed by "Resolving" and it too does not connect. The error comes up. Our inability to connect, IMO, is not a problem that lies with our computers. We cannot connect because probably the server (VPN IP) capacity is full. The security file might be full as well.

Using the host file to connect to the IP address is a manual way of connection. Basically, we are bypassing their reside IP (VPN IP). If everyone does this, eventually their server will ultimate hang and crash. Bypassing it allows you to connect but overcapacity makes the server lag...

If anyone else has any other ideas to why the connection problem (resulting in the error), post it up.

Open My computer
At the top, go to Tools, then Folder Options
Click on the View Tab
Make sure 'Show hidden files' is checked
and make sure 'Hide Protected operating system files' is Unchecked
Click ok for confirmation, and OK at the main window
Double click Local Disk C: (assuming this is where windows is installed)
Double click on WINDOWS folder (XP)
- Double click on WINNT (if you have 2000)
Double click System32 Folder
Double click Drivers folder
Double click ETC folder
Double click on 'hosts' file.
A screen will come up asking which programs you want to open it with, choose NOTEPAD
Add this line to the coding at the bottom
80.15.232.4 nprotect.nefficient.com

good luck...
