hi guys

I don't have dual or quad cores, but I had updated my graphics drivers, which resulted in not much change, however when I later, after that did a direct X update, it's alot more stable with less crashes.

Being the cynic that I am lol I don't believe thats the end of it, but rather a band aid solution until joymax sort it out.

From what I've seen and heard, there are more and more users experiencing this problem. A friend of mine doesn't use Vista, and she has done all the required updates and still gets the errors and crashes every 10-15 mins :? I have the most trouble now trying to stall. Can't keep ingame long enough to stall, and i know several that have the same problem.

The total screen freezes too are a pain. no movement total freeze for several long drawn out seconds, which then results in a crash or goes back to normal gameplay :banghead:

Very frustrating, I hope it's sorted soon

Cheers

Zia

Just an update, not had a single crash since this single core fix. Was getting 4 different types of crashes before, now not any. :D

my dual core has always done a great job on sro...never needed to disable 1 core before.

This does no good, so don't waste your time. I installed SRO on a brand new computer last night and installed from the latest full install file + updates and I can tell you with certainty that it had no effect.

I have 5 computers now with this same problem. 4 on XP SP2, 1 on Vista 64, 3 with Nvidia, 2 with ATI, 3 with Intel, 2 with AMD... all with updated drivers, all are fairly new computers with between 1 to 4 GB of RAM.

The issue is the client itself. It's bugged as of 2 updates ago (the one before they added Fur coats.

The only thing that seems to help is setting the processor affinity to 1 cpu and setting the process to "above normal" priority (I do not recommend using High or Realtime).

Do you all have dual core or quad core?
If you do, then try to run the game in 1 core.
If i set the compatibility mode to windows 98/ME, then your game runs on 1 Core...And then I don't crash or freeze

To ones who dont know how to do this(sorry my windows is in Estonian)

On task manager(Alt+Ctrl+Del), right click on the Sro_Client and select last option

Then: Only select CPU 0 and select OK

Maybe this works, maybe not, but you can try and tell me if that worked

Could a mod possibly edit this info into the first post? Seems to be the solution to the problem... and its a pain to have to read through all of the other messages saying to do other things when they don't work

(Just think it might help more ^^)

hiya again everyone

Well I since learned that my pc is dual core. I have tried the 1 core mode, and I'm still getting the errors :( Mine is predominantly runtime, and 99.9% of times is when I stall. I can't seem to keep ingame long enough to stall. I get maybe 30mins, sometimes 5 sometimes 1 hours and bang down she goes.

I agree that it isn't our pc's. This cannot be fixed at our end, well at least not for me at any rate. Patience is a virtue so they say :banghead:

To all the players that switching the dual's and quad cores that have worked? Thats fantastic, I'm glad the solution has helped you guys. :)

If anyone else has any idea's I'd be glad to hear them. All my drives and appropriate updates are done, so I can't think of anything else i can do. All my probs are SRO related, my pc is a dream for every other possible way that i use it.

I would also like to reiterate again that I like many others, have only started getting these probs since the previous update before the fur avatars.

Good luck people

Zia
