What does the browser he uses have to do with anything? Would that affect the actual execution of the program?

lol what does that have to do with anything? I downloaded it with Internet Explorer and I get the same error. Downloading with any browser should work.

Message string error refers to a problem that the program encounters when executed. Basically, it could mean that when the program is executed, it encountered some form of problem such as a corrupt code/download, or the program is coming into conflict with how the system handles the reading & writing of the files.

Do this first. Verify the download. The size of the downloaded file should be the same as the size of the file that is on the website. Yes, it does happen that a browser "finishes" a download before the file is actually completed downloading. If the size of the downloaded file is different from the one on the server, go to your browser options and delete all temporary files, and re-download.

If the downloaded file is of the same size, check and see if you downloaded all the latest Windows updates. Older O/S handles VB coding differently, which can cause errors during execution, installation or post-installation.

If you are using Windows 98 to actually play this game, you may encounter a lot trouble trying to get it work. If your Windows version is an upgrade from 98, it too may cause problems because XP uses your old Windows 98 settings - which includes drivers, start-up files, registry DOM files. Don't touch any of these in this particular paragraph. I'm highlighting what could be the cause of the problem, and not posting a solution for this particular paragraph.

Try those out first, if it doesn't work, post again. If it works, please do inform too as other users will benefit from your solution.
