How are you starting it? From the Start menu, from the explorer or from a shortcut on the desktop? If you're starting it from a shortcut try deleting the shortcut and making another one, or using the Start Menu, as patching may have screwed it up. At least, I've had that happen to me randomly a few times with other games.

Thanks for trying to help Bake but... i've tryed millions of ways to start the program, even on the main folder of the silkroad original exe file... tryed install all the drivers they recomend to my pc even re instaled million times direct x and gee force drivers. reinstalled million times the game and now I'm trying to download it again... Nobody ever talked abt this problem before...
I play silkroad since the begin of it... never seen before...
the only thing I can tell you is that at my DOS appears before windows start:
"No IDE Master H.D.D. Detected! press F1 to Resume" and I'm waondering if this is the reason fo the problem... other programs work fine...

I think it's saying that it's not detecting your hard drive. Which seems like a problem that would keep your computer from starting up at all. If you feel comfortable with poking around in the case, check that everything is secure (while the computer is off, of course) and that you have no loose cables. After that, use a disc utility to check the SMART status of the drive; you should be able to get one from the manufacturer's site. Of course, your drive has to be SMART-enabled for that to work... I suggest some Googling along those lines, you should come up with something.

Hi Bake

LOL me again. Happened something strange by now... i downloaded the setup file of SRO again in my pc, I installed it again and could play for 2 days, and then suddenly I got the same problem... so this discarts the HD stuf problem. It got it again when I sent the computer to make a bekup of my older hd to this new computer... (what makes me thingk again it is indeed a hd problem):( when I download silkroad again and install again sometimes it works sometimes not... strangely... but when it gets down it never comes back, forcing me to download it again... and then I thought was somekind of archieve that is corrupting with another archieve of the pc. I mean, some archieve of this pc is corrupting SR both game and instalation file, as they contain the same file... That was the only explanation I could have after discarting the possibles ones, do you agre?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR HAVING PATIENCE WITH ME, youre being very kind and nice helping ;)

Plus: I was looking around the site http://www.silkroadonline.org and a guy by the nick of setsuko89 posted the following reply witch I though very useful to know abt:
setsuko89 - "i have the same problem game installed but nth happens when i click the launcher.... btw i found out that there is no game guard in my sro folder... i installed it manually but also cannot open. need help!!"
My havnt it as well, does the silk road have indeed a GG on its foulders??? I dont remember that

There should be a folder named "gameguard" inside your Silkroad folder, yes. But if you don't have that folder, it should automatically download and install it when you start up the Silkroad client.

is your hard drive compressed? sometimes this can mess with certain programs running correctly.

if you don't know how to check, go to 'my computer', right click your drive and select properties, and there should be a check box for it.

LOL no, it's not compressed!! Maybe that's the error :P cause it works like that: I download> install> works fine, then after some rebots of the comp, it doenst works at all...
So then it's just check marck on the "compress hard disck to economise espace"??? and then that's all?
And, do I choose the "compress only C:/" or "compress C:/, foulders and subfoulders"??Cause I'm scared that if i change to the second option it would mess up again and I'll have to download and reinstal silk all over again....

THANKS FOR THE HELP! YOU 2

actually, what i meant was that sometimes compressing your drive causes errors. i wasn't saying you should do it, lol.

Then.... lets pray it stays like that... Praying was the only thing that worked so far...
Thanks for your all help and till next bug ;)
