Hey, I really like Silkroad, but my computer doesn't allow me to play...I know it sucks, but it SHOULD meet the Minimum Requirements at silkroadonline.net

It loads very very slow, don't care about that,i put "High priority" at task manager, and I have 256K Internet Connection so,I've tried a couple of tricks that don't work.

here are my settings:

2.8 GHz Processor
256 RAM (lol,sucks)
Intel "Extreme" Grpahics 2,96 MB, Direct X 9.0 (yes, I cry every day because of it)
Norton Antivirus 2005 (i heard of problems with this antivirus)

Drivers are up to date (2005,lol, but it's the most recent thing).

Help please...

256 RAM? Huh? Wha?
You're prob talking about ram on your L2 cache
Best quick (cheap) fix I can thunk of off'n the top'o my head is to give your system more mem.

But now that I read again, more likely. I'm just cornfuseled. Bottleneck IS your connection speed. Here is a quote from a GeekZone forum on similar: > HERE <

There's a pretty good troubleshooting guide found: > HERE <

[EDIT] Still think your description of the prob, "It loads very very slow" means connect speed. DSL or ADSL, right? Maybe there are other ppl on this board who know tricks/tips for that.
Can you play other high end graphic MMORPG's (like WOW) ?

Also, does your comp seem to slow down only where there are lots of other characters around like inside cities but not while you are outside mostly by yourself?

Loading programs has nothgin to do with your connection speed. Normally programs are loaded into the memory so they can be accessed more quickly. If your memory is not big it swaps alot of the information it loads up into the memory so it takes longer to load your programs.

ya, but if the server is lagged the slowness is to all clients and more noticeable with congestion.
Three parts to the "I've got the slows" prob. Server.related /// Connectivity & Internet.congestion /// Client.side

Do you have DSL or a 256k connection? Know any Tweaks?

I found the source of the problem!
It was not my internet, it was my Norton Antivirus. I unistalled it and the game ran smoothly and loaded pretty much faster.
I can play now, with some lag problems there, but i can still play.

Nice! -AND- Welcome to the Silk Road. :)

[EDIT - Addendum] Sometimes Norton comes with firewall software. Still in diagnostic mode here... this 'edit' posted after the fact.
Link to AVG (that Starrie mentions below) is > HERE <
Link to Avast is > HERE <
I've tested (and use) AVG Technologies vs. 7.5
concurrent with McAfee Security Center vs. 7.2
    but not the Avast product.

Got a new antivirus instead?
dont delete your old before you got a new one :P
If you want a free one, I can advise AVG or Avastm they're good and dont use up alot of memory.

I installed Antivira Antivir Antivirus,Free Edition. Game ran too,so I think Norton was the bottleneck there.
