that is the safest way on paper, but the lvl differences + the not so good spawns of some monsters will cause a slower lvl up even with life control.
for rogue it is pretty easy taking on monsters their lvl or even up to 4 lvls higher after lvl 40.
And concerning effectiveness:
lvl 76 a rogue barely has to budge to snipe 4 spawnpoints with fast shot /distance shot.
even though rogues have to lvl an additional 8 lvls, i am still not sure who'll be quicker.
